WOW! Does this bring back memories! I was in 5th grade when all this came out. The only ones I don't remember listening to at that time was the Bowie one, I discovered that one later.
I remember Bohemiam Rhapsody being played on a Sunday nite on my old AM clock radio. I kept wondering how long the song was going to go on!
BTW, I always thought Valli was singing "My Eyes of Georgia" "...Like a million miles away from me you couldn't see Hawaii, Georgia. So close, so close and yet so far."

Now, here it is, my son is in 5th grade, and he doesn't listen to a lot of current pop. He likes the Beatles, like his old man. I am making him a classicist early on.

The Captain and Tennille were great! I loved their music. When they were in England they offended Queen Elisabeth by performing, "Muskrat Love." She thought the cute animal sounds at the end were muskrats having sex.

John Denver was a mighty force in the 70's. Bootleg tapes of Rocky Mountain High were heard in remote Chinese villages near the Mongolian border. I did not make that up.

Its not just Brits and Americans with different top of the pops. Three years ago I was in Edmonton, Alberta and was nearly beaten up by a drunken mob because I had never heard of the 70's Canadian band, (spelled phoneticaly) Chilliwack

OK I was silly witness dork who sat and actually took NOTES when Kasey Kasem counted down the top songs of the week. I probably still have that exact list packed in a box in my garage...!!

I think I know all the words to all those songs. I was 15 in 1975. And was pretty much confined to home watching the kids and doing housework.

Where's that other list... The one that asked: You know you were a teenage JW if......

    Thanks for the memories.

Seventies music was under the influence of the Bee Gees and disco. Sucked except for prog rock bands

Not just Bee Gees and Disco.

The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt and others blended Rock, Country and Blues. The Ramones, Elvis Costello, Blondie, the Sex Pistols, Devo and others blazed new trails.

Music was only boring if you did not know where to tune your radio.

Blondie is a 70's band not an 80's band and in my opinion the second greatest rock group in the history of music. Beatles being number one.

That reminds me of when me and another jw guy were skiing in kalispell. We took along a couple of local jw girls. I played amostly canadian rock during the drive. It must have been an interesting experience for them.
