How bout the resolution that was announced at one of the DCs in the 1930's? That was CLEARLY one of the trumpet blasts in Revelation.
Although the King of the North (USSR) and the King of the South (USA) never went to war (I forget which book that was in).
I love that in the (?) daniel book where the king the north is X then the king of the south is Y oh wait then the king of the north changed to A then south was H then... then... then... How could we believe this crap!
And "God" said unto Moses, the Jews shall have big noses...
oh wait you said Watchtower predictions- sorry.
oh oh I know... "This good news that we don't take blood transfusions, celebrate holidays, participate in politics, say "God Bless You", break the speed limit, watch anything PG13+, love one another, show mercy will be preached to all the inhabited Earth...."
isn't that one?

He [Roosevelt] moved to create a "grand alliance" against the Axis powers through "The Declaration of the United Nations," January 1, 1942, in which all nations fighting the Axis agreed not to make a separate peace and pledged themselves to a peacekeeping organization (now the United Nations) on victory.http://www.fdrlibrary.marist.edu/fdrbio.html
Mr Roosvelt was talking about the UN by Jan of 1942 was he not?
What was the date of the talk?
That was my research project as a JW; to determine when the UN was set up. I remembered the WTS assertion that Knorr had "predicted" this. I found that the UN was organized in January of 1942 and that Knorr gave the talk on September 20, 1942, a full nine months after the UN declaration was developed.
The name "United Nations", coined by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt, was first used in the "Declaration by United Nations" of 1 January 1942, during the Second World War, when representatives of 26 nations pledged their Governments to continue fighting together against the Axis Powers.

Revelation book chap. 34 pp. 247-248 An Awesome Mystery Solved ***
"The wild beast . . . was." Yes, it had existed as the League of Nations from January 10, 1920, onward, with 63 nations participating at one time or another. But, in turn, Japan, Germany, and Italy withdrew, and the Soviet Union was dropped from the League. In September 1939 the Nazi dictator of Germany launched World War II. Having failed to keep peace in the world, the League of Nations virtually plunged into an abyss of inactivity. By 1942 it had become a has-been. Neither before this nor at some later date?but right at that critical time?did Jehovah interpret to his people the full depth of meaning of the vision! At the New World Theocratic Assembly, President Knorr could declare, in line with the prophecy, that "the wild beast . . . is not." He then asked the question, "Will the League remain in the pit?" Quoting Revelation 17:8, he answered: "The association of worldly nations will rise again." That is just how it proved to be?in vindication of Jehovah?s prophetic Word!
Ascending out of the Abyss6 The scarlet-colored wild beast did indeed climb out of the abyss. On June 26, 1945, with noisy fanfare in San Francisco, U.S.A., 50 nations voted to accept the Charter of the United Nations organization. This body was "to maintain international peace and security." Did it climb out in 1945 or 1942? Did Knorr have light from God or did he merely keep up on the news of the day? It was about the same time that I stumbled over the fact that the WTS was an NGO associated with the UN and it was breaking on JWD. Blondie

Just as the apostles understood many prophecies concerning the Messiah only after Jesus? death and resurrection, Christians today understand Bible prophecy in its finest detail only after it has been fulfilled. (Luke 24:15, 27; Acts 1:15-21; 4:26, 27) Revelation is a prophetic book, so we should expect to understand it most clearly as the events it describes unfold. For example, C. T. Russell could not have correctly understood the meaning of the symbolic scarlet-colored wild beast mentioned at Revelation 17:9-11, since the organizations that the beast represents, namely, the League of Nations and the United Nations, did not even exist until after his death.

Yes I got one! They predicted the second world war would end. (ducks as someone throws a shoe).
Oh and one more this one was going around bethel in the 80's. The prediction was that armagedon would come within 3 days of a wednessday. That's a pretty close one.
Man that Revelation book has got to be the biggest load of crap EVER. Are you serious that they said some shit about a resolution in the 30's being a 'trumpet blast' from Revelation?? Its been so long since I read that I can't remember the details. I do know that that book was the beginning of the end of my WTBTS career. There was so much crap in there I couldn't take it.

I must laugh at this, now that the WTS fog is gone! So then, what is the point of a group that has spent the past 130 years doing little else than trying to get these prophecies correctly interpretted before the events unfolded?
Never do I remember articles and books that said i.e.; 'let's review the prophecies of Daniel, let them interpret themselves, and if future events show that the prophecy has had modern day application we will point that out after the fact.'
Now that would be something - I think it would be too honest for them though! But you know what - Christendom, the so called wicked harlot does the honest thing all the time. I have met several nice Christians that tell me about their Bible studies in which they make little effort to interpret prophecy, they just read and wonder about it. That seems better than all these false hopes to me - let it be a mystery until it gets fulfilled - if it to be fulfilled at all.
Just my opinion
