i know of an apostate who wanted back to get more dirt from the inside..he's got lots of plans and ideas.makes enough money to be forgiven most anything, enough connections from being a witness for 50 yrs to make it back to elder again.
he's recently re instated.

Former Judicial Committee members need to weigh in here, but I think it's entirely possible for a former apostate to get reinstated. It would be like any other reinstatement; letter to the JC explaining that you've come to your senses, you believe it all now, you want to be a part of Jehovah's loving arrangement again, the whole shpeel. I would also guess that it would be a lengthy process, not the 6-months for screwing-around sort of thing, but a year or two.
Of course, if you were a well-known, highly-vocal apostate, it might take even longer. And if you happen to be the admin of a forum for ex-JW's, that would complicate things a bit, too. (Sorry, Simon, I think you are probably never going to be allowed back in Jehovah's Worldwide Brotherhood. )

When I was DFed/DAed for apostacy one of the elders on my DFing commitee told my mom that usually apostates do not get RI, but if it was possible I would be the one that could come back. I think it's because he KNEW that at the time I was ONLY looking for answers and still thought they had the truth. (despite not understanding why they did some things) They could not answer my questions so they booted me out. If he only knew me now he would NOT want me back! If JW's were able to listen to me I would be telling them ALL ABOUT THE LIES told by the WTS. I would LOVE to confront him now!
The WTS will accept ANYONE who is willing to sell books and kiss their collective ass.

I know an elder who was exposed to aposticy and was removed and remained inactive for several years then went back and after a few years became an elder and a pioneer... I don't think he believes it true though I think it's just family preasure. He was the one who came and talked to me and when I asked him some of my questions he said "well if thats how you feel you should just leave." He never told anyone and I still see him I think he covered for me so I was never in "trouble."
I know he knows it's garbage!
go back to what? there is really nothing there to go back to. lies and manipulation, fear and control. as far as family goes, if they really loved us they would not have ditched us over something that they themselves have wondered secretly if it is the 'truth' or not, so again, what's to go back to? if my family wants me back, they'll come to me. the watchtower is worthless and I do not want it in my life...

Isn't that kind of like trying to convince a kid that Santa Claus exists after he's caught you putting the presents under the Christmas tree?
I don't know how anyone could un-ring that bell and go back to the WTS after finding out about all the lies they've taught and continue to teach. The double agent thing sounds plausible, but seriously, I don't have the patience to put up with their crap long enough to get to the point of them considering me a Sister? In Good Standing? again.
And the thought of going door-to-door again to perpetuate their lies makes me feel physically ill.
