If I were 20 years younger I'd have an earring. But I look kinda goofy in a beard though.

Soo wat exactly are you two guys saying? Is it Wrong ??
Welcome to the rest of your life!
or not.......
If you have to ask if some thing is wrong in order to fit into a group of people maybe you don't fit? Just an observation after 45+ years as a JW.

Rjmoss, you need to understand, some of us here are EX-JW's, some never have been, some currently are. This forum is for all to share in discussing the Jehovahs Witness religion.
I was born into the witness religion but never baptised. When I turned 18, I left out of my own accord. Only recently have my parents begun to talk to me again. Anyway if you are baptised, you will not be able to progress past that if you wear an earring as a JW. It is a "conscience matter" which means its your choice-but unofficially, it is NOT a conscience matter and the rule is you can not have one. There are many other unknown (to outsides and new ones) rules like that so make sure you know them all or you will make mistakes.
Some examples:
no earrings on men
no other piercings or more than a couple earrings for men and women
no beards
no watching rated R movies
no smurfs (haha)
no hanging out with friends who are worldly
Ok thats all I can think of right now.
Take care!
both adornments (beards and earrings) can be rather HOT in my opinion, but I?m pretty sure you're not trying to please me ('cause then you'd probably need a pierced tongue as well...hee hee...j/k)
if you are trying to please Jehovah's Witnesses and the Society: NO beards or earrings, (or tongue rings...boo hoo)
if you are trying to please Jehovah/God/Buddha/any other deity: don't think it matters, but it's up to you
if you are trying to please yourself: definitely up to you (and apparently something drove you to do it in the first place...)
if you are trying to please me: only men with tongue rings need apply, ha ha
(Okay for realz I'm just joking bout the tongue ring...it?s just so damn hot)

Ok thats all I can think of right now.

I have the earings, am working on the beard. Damn Italian heritage!
bikerchic: I am with you about the italian thing. May I borrow some industrial-sized nair please? ;)
Hey everyone I am new here and a new witness,
Hello RJ,
I'm a bit confused. Are you a "newly baptized" Witness or newly attending meetings? People who are already baptized are pretty well acquainted with things like this after studying with JWs for any length of time.
The Watchtower is extremely uptight about the brothers wearing chains, earrings and of course piercings. Did you ever discuss your questions with your study conductor? I'm surprised that he didn't tell you things like this.
You already know about the no-beard business, and for many YEARS the Watchtower publications even drew Jesus without one! (Do you suppose that he was offended by his own beard?) I often wondered if the illustrators would have preferred to have pictured Jesus with a bookbag and cleanshaven!
Nice to have you here, by the way!
hugs,
Annie
That's a good point Annie. Thank you, I forgot to welcome him.
Howdy and welcome to JWD!
