the flood destroyed all who had rejected his knowlege

They mean that "Our God destroyed all who rejected his knowlege" . The first sentence make it sound kike a natural disaster like the tsunami. In fact they mean a calculated judgement, a targeted slaughter of all who disagree or have not heard of the JW teachings. is there not a saying that people create their god in the manner that reflects their own desires? They want that to happen.

When the penny dropped for me , it was so clear to me that God would never do a thing li ke that. They make him out to be a tyrant , not a loving father. And whatever theological arguments may be bantered around, the teaching is fundamentaly wrong - it cannot be true..

All evidence shows that this day is very near, which means that you may 'never die at all'.

I was subject to this for a about 40 years of activity . I rememember our old Congregation Servant of the pre elder days telling us that since his youth in the 1920's "Armageddon was always maybe 2 years away". Not just now but not long either. And so it has remained bar a short time in the mid 70's when we thought it just months away. And so here we are : halfway through the first decade of the twentyfirst cen tury. Nothing has happened . The world has not collapsed into anarchy and everything just keeps rolling along

Hi all and Bluesbrother - It seems to be a 'fear' orientated cult that keeps drawing on peoples fears and then adds to them.

Hollys thread last week on 'The Good News Will be Preached and then the end will come...' in which she was asking who else preaches like the JWs do was interesting. Holly, it seems, is searching, and doubting, which is quite natural. However, the fact that JWs appear to preach, which is a sign of the end seems to be the only reason why some are attracted to the JWs. People seem to be attracted the the doom mongers of this world which is why apocalyptic cults seem to thrive amongst certain people.

Here the WTBTS is offering eternal life through its publications and the Bible and offering certain death to all who refuse. No wonder weak and confused, and people at vulnerable times in their lives are drawn to this terrible cult!

    Do they never learn?

Why would they learn? Why abandon a successful strategy? The constant end of the world predictions are bought hook, line, and sinker by faithful JWs...every time! They might lose a few after each prediction comes true, but I think losing a few is worth it to them....w/o The End looming in the near future, a lot more would leave.

Make apocalyptic predictions=keep the dubs in the b0rg selling books, but lose a few after the predictions don't come true

Refrain from apocalyptic predictions=everyone will leave the b0rg

At least, that's what they're thinking, IMO.

That is very true rebel8. As long as many of us can remember, Armageddon is just ahead of us and...it has yet to materialise. Sometimes, I forget that all it is is a business organization with a busy cult sideline. As long as the books are selling....

At least the past 75 years have taught them to say "may" instead of "will".

One more thing I noticed in that article that was odd, was that 'the creator will create conditions on that earth that will favour long life.' What's with the 'long life' and not 'eternal life'?

All religions use the same carrot. Most teach that the end is near and always have for 1000s of years.

'He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies will come to life; and everyone that is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all.' All evidence shows that this day is very near, which means that you may 'never die at all'.

For the watchtower 'He that exercises faith in me ═ faith in the Organization

    They are busted.

Matthew 24 B 37-39 shows that Jesus compared our time with the 'days of Noah', in which people ' took no note' of the critical situation. They also ignored the message that Noah preached.

The WTS is not quite honest in translating Matthew. The NWT says, "they took no note" but other translations say "they knew nothing" or something similar. If you look at the Kingdom Interlinear (the purple Bible) with the original Greek with literal translations it translates the same as most other Bibles.

In using "they took no note" instead of "they knew not or nothing" it implies that they did know but refused to act upon the knowledge which is not how it actually reads.

The WTS also likes to expound on the whole "Noah...a preacher of righteousness" bit. Nowhere in the Noah/Flood account is mention made of Noah preaching or warning his contemporaries. The only mention of his being a "preacher of rigtheousness" was made by one of the apostles one time after Jesus died. Even then it does not say how Noah preached righteousness.

The WTS usage of Noah and the end being preached as he preached the flood is a form of guilt and fear imposed on their followers so as to keep them selling magazines and to keep them in line.

It's dishonest and unethical. But when it comes to the WTS, what else is new?

Yeah, what's up with that? The used to say "everlasting life" now it's "favours long life". Looks like they are doing a little backpeddeling to me. I think they're trying to cover their @sses after Armegedon too.
