G'day all,
How's things with you? It's been an eventful week for many of us with much sadness for some. We send sympathy to Mulan and Big Red, Steve and Princess.
Also over in Europe to Vivamus. How sad that her beautiful car was badly damaged! But how glad we are that Viv and her passengers are safe.
Personally I've found two threads the most significant. There was tepic's moving account of a judicial committee meeting and there was just yesterday a thread from Narkissos relating some most interesting facts about the French language NWT. If you haven't read it - it's a 'must read'.
Downunder we're into autumn but temps are still in the mid 30s celsius (centigrade) and very little rain, more's the pity.
So, time for some reminiscing and contemplation.
The WTS' big news has been the decision to change the Awake! from semi-monthly to monthly. What does it all mean? Of course, the Society have put their 'to be expected' glossy spin on the reasons but now, what do the R&F think? Last week we looked at it from this angle: What will you miss when the Awake! goes monthly? Today, which is like part 2, we look at it from the point of view of why?
Let's poll!
This weekend's poll question is:
Why do you think the "Awake!" is going monthly?
1. The Society is running out of paper.
2. The Writing Deoartment have run out of things to write.
3. The Society are running out of ink.
4. Too many copies are ending up in Salvo's bins.
5. Ted Jarasz hasn't got time to proof-read it any more.
6. Too many proofreaders were falling asleep.
7. They found a language where Awake means something foul.
8. To confuse the publishers (Now is it 1 W/T and 1 A/W or 2 W/T and 1 A/W, or........? )
9. The Society is just running out.
10. We must be near "the end".
11. To concentrate on "spiritual things". Blech!
12. They'not - it's another lie from those wicked apostates.
13. So that we can start counting double for a monthly magazine on our reports.
14. Dunno
15. Sounds weird to me.
16. Because it's sensible.
17. Now if only they'd do that with the Watchtower!
18. Other (please detail)
So what do you reckon? Do tell.
Enjoy.
Cheers, Ozzie
