Yea, they always used to explain that one by saying the birds and dogs would eat them all. In fact I used to hear people say, "have you noticed an increase in the carrian(sp?) birds lately?? Armeggedon must be close.

I hear ya Jez. I think it's because every talk, every WT article, every study aid from JWs starts out with something negative about worldly people, about governments, about false religion, about the United Nations. They are truly conditioned to think "JWs good; everything/everyone else bad". Eliminate critical thinking, which is what they try so hard to do and your audience will believe anything you tell them. Especially if you are saying it on a daily basis...
The speaker can say that paradise is right around the corner, any day now, do not give out, but do they ask themselves "Is it worth living a life that has been bought with the lives of billions of people from all walks of life, of all ages?"
I often thought of this. why was I more deserving than so many others who did so much more to help others in the world than myself? Just because I was sitting in a KH 3 times a week and passing out magazines did this really make me more worthy of everlasting life than the the self sacrificing humanitarian? I meant well, but to be truthful I wasn't doing a whole lot of good for anyone else. it was a selfish life and I regret putting my non-JW family through the years of my sacrifing for the Org because they had to sacrifice too and for what?--so that they would die in the end? Really sad and depressing way to view life.

Good analogy, except that eventually one becomes disenchanted and gets to really KNOW the person they love. I can't figure out anymore why the ppl I love the most in the world, or these otherwise intelligent ppl just don't get fed up. I can't believe the level of elementary crap they are fed and fed and fed.....the inconsistencies are so blatent!! Jez

Giggle. I thought I was the only one who was taught that? I remember a popular sista saying that all the time. It's as if they go around pointing at any existent or nonexistent event and claiming it is a sign of the times, like reading tea leaves.
You know, 3 people cut me off in traffic this a.m....must be Armageddon's close!
Especially when they see something in the bible that contradicts the WT.
Bible reading is just scanning black letters. WT says what the bible says.
