Any of you peoples ever watched that wonderful film 'Secondhand Lions'?

It's about a young boy who goes to live with two elderly uncles who have lived very full and wild lives. It's a great film. But at the end when the young boy has grown up and they know he has done well and is happy they decided to 'end it all' by flying their biplane into a barn, so that they don't end up dependent on anyone and don't lose their dignity.

Hubby and I loved that film. No longer believing in 'living forever on a paradise earth' and discovering it was all some crazy weed dream of some bored lawyer dudes, we've come to the conclusion that when we're really, really old we also don't want to lose our dignity and non of our kids are gonna wipe our asses, thankyou!

So, we've decided to get a really powerful motorbike for another forty odd years time. Then, when it looks like we're gonna need our asses wiping for us cos we can't do it no more we're gonna do a second hand lions trick and go out in style.

We've decided that to really do it in style, we're gonna strip down to our woolly underwear, and take out our false teeth, so that they don't fly out and hurt any one, and then, with out crash helmets, we're gonna ride our final ride together and say goodbye to the world in style. We might make a bit of a mess but.....it's good to be in control.

After a life time of being controlled, when the end comes, we're going to be in charge!

Yes indeed, I thought that was a great movie! And I certainly don't want to live long enough where I have to be wiped up by another person! Maybe I can rent a plane!

Gill, I don't disagree (although I've not seen the movie)

Kev's dad is a retired doctor. Mom has alzheimers. They are going to be selling their home sometime in the next couple years and move into a retirement community. They can afford it. His dad also has drugs set aside for that final time when they can no longer life their lives.

I hope I have the options when it's time for me. Death with dignity is very important issue.

Hugs and love and a long fun life!

Worldlywife - plane sounds good! Stylish! Hair, (what's left of it) blowing in the wind.....yeah, cool!

Brenda - It's terrible to see very elderly people have all their choices and dignity taken from them. I don't care how bad my arthritis gets, should I ever get arthritis NO ONE will ever tell me what to do again!

worldlywife - Not only do I lack arthritis, I only have one grey hair that has been coming back every six months for the last seven years! Not bad going for 105 going on 41 eh!

Ah... I'm approaching that number also! And I have a miracle bottle of hair color for my "one grey hair"..........which seems to multiply daily!

Try mega dose natural source vitamin E, at least 800iu a day.

Believed to prevent grey hair by keeping nourishment getting to the hair folicle, because it thins the blood.

I do take an E already, not sure of the iu's though. Thanks for the tip! :)

worldlywife - make sure it's d-alpha tocopherol and not dl-alphatocopherol, which is a bi product of the petrochemical industry. iu is the same as mcg.
