Out of context Watchtower quotes -- join in, have fun!

  The Watchtower is constantly pulling quotes out of context and distorting the original author's meaning. Why not give them a taste of their own poison?

  Here's a few to get you started:

  "affiliation with a religious group or denomination is not a prerequisite for belief in God."

  "God did [...] abdicate his sovereignty, [...] abandon his purpose."
  -- "Your Will Be Done on Earth - When?" (http://watchtower.org/library/w/2004/4/15/article_02.htm)

  (It's as if they felt this coming, they're kind of hard to find!)

  As an aside to this one, let me quote some of the first paragraph from that article:

  Good educators present all sides of an issue and encourage discussion. Propagandists relentlessly force you to hear their view and discourage discussion. Often their real motives are not apparent. They sift the facts, exploiting the useful ones and concealing the others.

  Eeek! Does that not describe our experience with the Watchtower? "Discourage discussion", "concealing the other [facts]". I'm thinkin' there's a kettle somewhere gettin' awfully sick of hearing from this particular pot...
