This is just like when you get those calls around dinner but no one is there: Telemarketer on an automatic dialer hanging up on calls to blow time.

I can also confirm this is not a weird phenomenon. I have never had the witnesses actually call at my house, but a few months ago two sisters were working our street. I didn;t see them, but my boyfriend did and they were standing at doors for ten minutes or more when there was clearly no one there. When they got to our house where my boyfriend was washing the car they stood at the end of the drive. Does anyone know if they have DFed people marked on the back of the maps or something? Don't they have to knock anyway to reach other people in the house?
Anyway i doubt they'll be back to visit as even if they had decided to witness to him he headed them off by telling them that they were sick and twisted amongst other things - I wish I'd heard first hand or had a chance to talk to them myself!

Adelmaal,
You don't have a sponge door knocker by any chance?
The reason you heard nothing is because she was scared! My sons have told me that they've worked with sisters when they were young, walked up to a door, and the sister has given a knock even an ant wouldn't hear or done nothing at all but stand there. I'm sure many brothers and sisters do likewise. The truth is, the ministry is not normal. I hated it!

I used to do the same as that sister sometimes
It is the best part about working on your own

In our hall they used to call that the "marshmallow knock".

I think she did the wrong thing.
The WTBTS does not encourage people to go alone door-to-door. It's dangerous these days, and much less if it's a sister.
She did the wrong thing. Poor soul probably didn't even want to go out on service to begin with.

WoW ! this is actually amazing on how many of us here fessed up to doing this "fake knock", and look where we are today?! So if there are still thousands of the JW`s doing this, what does this say about the JW`s and what they are teaching?? And there has to be thousands still in that are feeling like we did, and don`t really preach ( or want to ) when they are in FS. So many, to scared to make a move and get out!! So brainwashed! Frightening!

Wow, I remember working with people a time or two before who didn't knock, they'd pat the door. Must have blown their mind when I looked over at them, said, "No one's gonna hear that! Here, let me do it for you," and just pounded the door.
Yes, I was a fully-indoctrinated d!ck.

When out alone in service I would knock on doors and if they answered I would try to sell them life insurance.

dansk comment reminded me of a service meeting discussing retisence on the part of some...where it was said that some in the cong have sponges for knockers....cue much hilarity from those who were awake
