He spoke passionately and quite logically about the matter. I don't think he's bluffing at all.

He explained rather convincingly instances in which God annihilated large crowds, with only a couple or so escaping with their lives.

Anyone who enjoys this that much is a bloodthirsty creep. It never fails to floor me when the elders speak about how loving the 'brothers' are, and yet they seem to jump for joy at the prospect of taking off their janatorial suits and play little kings with other peoples lives.

I had an elder come to my door not too long ago and on the one hand tell me that I should come back because the elders in Willits obviously made a mistake and that they were such loving brothers that what happened to me there would not happen here. A handfull of sentences later he was talking about how he had to readjust the thinking of his son by cutting him off for 'leaving Jehovah'. These idiots do not even know who Jehovah is, they have him confused with the WTBTS...

I laughed my ass off and told them never to come back.

many times I have felt joy and excitement and guilt over something truly horrible...I think its just a natural reaction to anything new that relieves some of the boredom of life.

I think this elder believes that FINALLY the real end is here..and that is where the joy and excitement comes, not from killing off all those who are getting the axe which I believe he really does not even think about.

    b) We have to be ready to help catch all the ones that get shaken out; they will need our help.

    I agree whole heartedly!

We all at one time took on the job/title of JW for whatever reason, and if we're not performing to its expected standards, it's only fair that we should lose that job/title. That happens in any arena of life.

In the strictest religious sense you are right. Yet, when it comes to worshiping God correctly and living our lives within His standards, it is not. That's where the Scribes and the Pharisees erred. Matthew 23

If they did start a major cleaning job", it could cover for all the ones now leaving anyway. That way the good dubs wouldn't see the handbasket going to Hell.

I believe the state of God's people during Jesus time is being repeated today! Matthew 9: 35 and 36 also Matthew Chapter 2

Interesting point flash. Even though I don't know exactly what I believe as far as the bible is concerned I had flashed on this one before thinking about the prophetic patterns that the Organization was always talking about. If it does fall in line with the rest the chosen people of God would eventually become corrupt and their leaders would become like the pharisees in Jesus' day.

You know a few years ago I may have thought that this paranoia about inactive ones being Dfd or DAd was a bit over the top, but the things I experienced with elders and others in the Org in the past couple of years had lead me to believe that they are going to take any opportunities they can to lay their power trips on people. I think as one of the posters mentioned above that things are just so dull in the Organization that they are looking for any sort of drama to spice things up. JW land has become unbearably boring that a little witch hunt would definitely add a little spice to their lives!

What Bryan said sparked a vague memory for me -- didn't they spin it that way back in the Ray Franz days? That we would see a decrease because of a "weeding out" of unfaithful? And I think they tied it in to that account in the Bible about Joshua testing the soldiers' alertness by having them drink from a stream and getting rid of the ones that bent over (well, you never know what those enemy soldiers might do with all those butts hangin' out!) instead of bringing the water up while continuing to watch (and keeping their skirts over their rears -- how could anyone fight in outfits like that?).

I know a few have mentioned "legal implications." I don?t believe there are any. A private group (religion) can pick and choose it?s members. A good example of this is allowing women to play golf in Augusta, Ga. They can?t discriminate on race, but are free to do anything else.

Actually, they keep all the cards even of those who are DF'd and DA'd. So far the elders are directed each year to call on those DF'd and/or DA'd. Couldn't do that without the cards. Actually, several congregation BOEs did take out the cards of the inactive and DF'd and were royally chewed out by the CO to put them back in. I guess they thought the CO wouldn't notice that there wasn't a single inactive person in the congregation.

Elders at a door: We see by your card you are inactive, haven't been attending meetings, were counseled 5 times for self-abuse, 4 times for ignoring that counsel, having a bad attitude, listening to debasing rock music, watching an R-rated movie, and ...

JWD member: Hold on a sec while I get your card. [Pause] Oh, yes, in 1975 nothing happened, shortly after you said you never said anything would, in 1991 you joined the United Nations, in 2000 you quickly left the UN because of embarrassing news reports, in Mexico it was okay to bribe officials to say that brothers did do their time in the military, but in Malawi they couldn't register for a national ID card for 25 cents, in Bulgaria...
