Really their egotism knows no bounds. The text for the memorial day is:

Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?"--Matthew 24:45.

You would think that on just this one day they could allow Jesus take the stage.

No they have to hog it. Really they have gone too far.

Now I ask a favor, I don?t have a daily text book, could someone who does, copy the comments for me. I would really love to have that for my records and would be soooo grateful.

    Thank you in advance.

Here are the scriptures that go along with daily text.

(Matthew 24:45) "Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?

(Galatians 6:16) And all those who will walk orderly by this rule of conduct, upon them be peace and mercy, even upon the Israel of God.

(Isaiah 43:10) "YOU are my witnesses," is the utterance of Jehovah, "even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that YOU may know and have faith in me, and that YOU may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none.

(1 Corinthians 12:12) For just as the body is one but has many members, and all the members of that body, although being many, are one body, so also is the Christ.

(Luke 22:14-71) At length when the hour came, he reclined at the table, and the apostles with him. 15

And he said to them: "I have greatly desired to eat this passover with YOU before I suffer; 16 for I tell YOU, I will not eat it again until it becomes fulfilled in the kingdom of God." 17 And, accepting a cup, he gave thanks and said: "Take this and pass it from one to the other among yourselves; 18 for I tell YOU, From now on I will not drink again from the product of the vine until the kingdom of God arrives." 19 Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: "This means my body which is to be given in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me." 20 Also, the cup in the same way after they had the evening meal, he saying: "This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood, which is to be poured out in YOUR behalf. 21 "But, look! the hand of my betrayer is with me at the table. 22 Because the Son of man is going his way according to what is marked out; all the same, woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!" 23 So they started to discuss among themselves the question of which of them would really be the one that was about to do this. 24 However, there also arose a heated dispute among them over which one of them seemed to be greatest. 25 But he said to them: "The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those having authority over them are called Benefactors. 26 YOU, though, are not to be that way. But let him that is the greatest among YOU become as the youngest, and the one acting as chief as the one ministering. 27 For which one is greater, the one reclining at the table or the one ministering? Is it not the one reclining at the table? But I am in YOUR midst as the one ministering. 28 "However, YOU are the ones that have stuck with me in my trials; 29 and I make a covenant with YOU, just as my Father has made a covenant with me, for a kingdom, 30 that YOU may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel. 31 "Simon, Simon, look! Satan has demanded to have YOU men to sift YOU as wheat. 32 But I have made supplication for you that your faith may not give out; and you, when once you have returned, strengthen your brothers." 33 Then he said to him: "Lord, I am ready to go with you both into prison and into death." 34 But he said: "I tell you, Peter, A cock will not crow today until you have three times denied knowing me." 35 He also said to them: "When I sent YOU forth without purse and food pouch and sandals, YOU did not want for anything, did YOU?" They said: "No!" 36 Then he said to them: "But now let the one that has a purse take it up, likewise also a food pouch; and let the one having no sword sell his outer garment and buy one. 37 For I tell YOU that this which is written must be accomplished in me, namely, ?And he was reckoned with lawless ones.? For that which concerns me is having an accomplishment." 38 Then they said: "Lord, look! here are two swords." He said to them: "It is enough." 39 On going out he went as customarily to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed him. 40 Having come to the place he said to them: "Carry on prayer, that YOU do not enter into temptation." 41 And he himself drew away from them about a stone?s throw, and bent his knees and began to pray, 42 saying: "Father, if you wish, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, let, not my will, but yours take place." 43 Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. 44 But getting into an agony he continued praying more earnestly; and his sweat became as drops of blood falling to the ground. 45 And he rose from prayer, went to the disciples and found them slumbering from grief; 46 and he said to them: "Why are YOU sleeping? Rise and carry on prayer, that YOU do not enter into temptation." 47 While he was yet speaking, look! a crowd, and the [man] called Judas, one of the twelve, was going before them; and he approached Jesus to kiss him. 48 But Jesus said to him: "Judas, do you betray the Son of man with a kiss?" 49 When those about him saw what was going to happen, they said: "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?" 50 A certain one of them even did strike the slave of the high priest and took off his right ear. 51 But in reply Jesus said: "LET it go as far as this." And he touched the ear and healed him. 52 Jesus then said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and older men that had come there for him: "Did YOU come out with swords and clubs as against a robber? 53 While I was with YOU in the temple day after day YOU did not stretch out YOUR hands against me. But this is YOUR hour and the authority of darkness." 54 Then they arrested him and led him off and brought him into the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance. 55 When they lit a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter was sitting in among them. 56 But a certain servant girl saw him sitting by the bright fire and looked him over and said: "This man also was with him." 57 But he denied it, saying: "I do not know him, woman." 58 And after a short time another person seeing him said: "You also are one of them." But Peter said: "Man, I am not." 59 And after about an hour intervened a certain other [man] began insisting strongly: "For a certainty this [man] also was with him; for, in fact, he is a Gal·i·le´an!" 60 But Peter said: "Man, I do not know what you are saying." And instantly, while he was yet speaking, a cock crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter, and Peter recalled the utterance of the Lord when he said to him: "Before a cock crows today you will disown me three times." 62 And he went outside and wept bitterly. 63 Now the men that had him in custody began to make fun of him, hitting him; 64 and after covering him over they would ask and say: "Prophesy. Who is it that struck you?" 65 And they went on saying many other things in blasphemy against him. 66 At length when it became day, the assembly of older men of the people, both chief priests and scribes, gathered together, and they haled him into their San´he·drin hall, saying: 67 "If you are the Christ, tell us." But he said to them: "Even if I told YOU, YOU would not believe it at all. 68 Moreover, if I questioned YOU, YOU would not answer at all. 69 However, from now on the Son of man will be sitting at the powerful right hand of God." 70 At this they all said: "Are you, therefore, the Son of God?" He said to them: "YOU yourselves are saying that I am." 71 They said: "Why do we need further witness? For we ourselves have heard [it] out of his own mouth."

I don't have the commentary..The reading from Luke is the bible reading and Mtt 24:45 is the daily text.

Sounds like some real piggy back stuff going on, doesn't it?

This is the right word - ARROGANCE. The constant homoginizing of the FDS with Jesus and Jehovah in the minds of the sheep is the goal and is working.

Here are a few comments made earlier on this

I am not going. First time I haven't gone. I will be glad when it is over as I can feel the pressure of it all. It is like the final nail on the coffin with my JW companions, my not showing up tonight.

I was reading the daily text for today put out by the society.

Matt. 24:45 - Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?

On the day of the Memorial, commemorating Jesus death, this is the text for the day.

Just seeing it made me feel rather sick in my stomach. It actually made me feel better about my decision not to go. I will do something quietly and personal to show my love and appreciation for creation and people I care for and for mankind.

    from Scully

Oh. My. Gawd. It's been at least 10 years since I looked at any Yearbook, but if memory serves, the text on the date of the Memorial used to emphasize God's love in providing a ransom. This is sheer unadulterated self-aggrandizement on the part of the WTS. It's blasphemous, for all intents and purposes.

For some reason, this scripture came to mind:

    *** Rbi8 Matthew 24:15-16 ***

15"Therefore, when YOU catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place, (let the reader use discernment,) 16 then let those in Ju·de´a begin fleeing to the mountains.

It would be an interesting study to go through all the Yearbooks to check the scripture references for the dates of the Memorial over the years, and see if there is a progression in promoting the WTS over Jesus and/or Jehovah's provision of a ransom. If I had any Yearbooks handy, I'd do it myself. It appears as though the daily texts have been omitted from the WT CD ROM.

I also found the timing of the Organized to Do Jehovahs Will..........well.......in poor taste too.........as supposedly we are preparing our minds and hearts for the Memorial. What a way to steal the show!

    Thank you purps,

I appreciate all the work you did in my behalf. I also read the other thread I had missed.

Just for my own infomation I would have liked to get a hold of the comments they made after the text.

    I still cannot believe it.

    confused jw,

That was an excellent description of what they are doing.

The constant homoginizing of the FDS with Jesus and Jehovah in the minds of the sheep is the goal.

    All very sad.

    Hi yesidid,

The WTS/FDS by their own acclamation has long told the rank and file that they cannot get to Jesus unless it is through "his earthly representatives."

I'm not surprised that this is the scripture for 3/24/05. Starting from the top down:

    God

    Jesus

    FDS/WTS

    w00 1/1 p. 11 "The Little One" Has Become "a Thousand" ***

Still, light does shine today. Jehovah ?shines forth? upon his servants, the anointed remnant, who are the earthly representatives of his heavenly "woman." (Isaiah 60:1) Especially since their release from Babylonish captivity in 1919, these have reflected God?s glory and have ?let their light shine before men.? (Matthew 5:16)

    ***

    w03 2/15 p. 31 Questions From Readers ***
Jehovah?s people today carefully fix their eyes on the progressive Bible-based instructions that Jehovah gives through his earthly organization. (Psalm 123:1, 2) Yes, they act on his direction, being alert to whatever Jehovah indicates through "the faithful and discreet slave."?Matthew 24:45-47.

    ***

    w93 4/1 p. 22 Growing up with Jehovah?s organization in South Africa ***
I have learned that Jehovah directs his organization through Jesus Christ and will use those who make themselves available.

    ***

    w90 10/1 p. 30 Do You Follow Instructions? ***
We should follow the instructions that the Head of the Christian congregation, Jesus Christ, gives through "the faithful and discreet slave," the appointed channel of God?s organization here on earth. (Matthew 24:45-47; Ephesians 5:23) In order to have peace and unity in the congregation, all its members must act in harmony with the guidance given. For instance, those taking the lead in teaching the congregation and in helping other people need to stick to the directions they receive from Jehovah?s organization. This will contribute to the effectiveness of their work.

    ***

    w85 7/15 p. 24 Are You Resisting the Spirit of Discontent? ***
We are part of an international association of brothers and sisters, a great publicity organization that Jesus Christ is directing through "the faithful and discreet slave." This worldwide brotherhood is accomplishing Jehovah?s will in preaching the good news of the Kingdom and in making disciples. (Matthew 24:14, 45-47; 28:19, 20; 1 Peter 2:17)

    ***

w81 12/1 p. 31 The Path of the Righteous Does Keep Getting Brighter ***
disciples stumbled over Jesus? teaching: "Lord, whom shall we go away to? You have sayings of everlasting life." (John 6:68) The Lord Jesus Christ still has those "sayings," and he is dispensing them through the one "faithful and discreet slave" organization that he today uses on earth.

Text for Thursday, March24 2005 taken from watchtower 3/1/04

Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?--Matt. 24:45

Every member of the Israel of God is a dedicated, baptized christians anointed with holy spirit and having a heavenly hope. (Gal. 6:16) Hence, the expression Faithful and Discreet Slave refers to all members of that anointed spiritual nation as a group on earth at any particular time from 33 C.E. until now, just as every Israelite living at any time from 1513 B.C.E. until Pentecost 33 C.E. was part of the pre-christian servant class. (Isa. 43:10) Who, then, are the domestics, who receive spiritual nourshment from the slave? In the first century C.E. every Christian cherished the heavenly hope. Consequently, the domestics were also anointed Christians viewed, not as a group but as individuals. All needed spiritual food from the slave.-----1 Cor. 12:12 w 3/1/04
