    Citizen Kane.

This movie transformed movie-making. If you don't believe this, then look it up on the vast Internet. I knew this 30 years ago before I knew about the Internet. The UCLA school of film-making still considers this to be the best movie of all time and the model for camera angles, color shading and stuff like that. Orson Wells was a genius. Fat? Yes! Genius? Yes! Sold wine for a living when he was REALLY fat? Yes! (The guy was still a genius, folks.)

The rest can be catalogued by the experts. Citizen Kane is still the quintensesstial movie, although today it looks hokey. It wasn't very high-tech. It actually was about plot and characters and that was about it.

    Gee,

Trying to pick 10 is almost impossible! I cannot believe how much I have in common with all of you. There was AT LEAST one movie on all of your lists that I would put on mine. Ok, here goes:

    1. Anne of Green Gables and the sequel
    2. The Matrix
    3. Airplane
    4. The Man From Snowy River
    5. Somewhere in Time
    6. Dead Poet's Society
    7. All Star Wars movies
    8. All Alfred Hitchcock's movies
    9. The Princess Bride
    10. All Star Trek movies(yes, even the campy older ones)
    11. The Sound Of Music
I'm sorry, but these deserve honorable mention too!
Gladiator, Titanic, Braveheart, Wizard of Oz, Phantom of the Paradise,
Ok I will stop for now.

This was a fun thread, now I feel like I know you all a little better.
