To answer your statements, I was raised as a Jehovah's witness from the time I was 1 1/2 years old. I was baptized when I was 11 and in no way do I feel brainwashed. I am now 22 and I still believe the same thing I believed ten years ago. I believe that if you are taught from the bible and not mans personal opinions you should be able to make the choice you want to. I will continue that even when I have kids and if the decide not to be a witness then I will be disappointed but I will not make them go.

    Welcome to the forum friend.

Thank you for your post...I have a question to ask you.

In the 22 years you have been in the 'truth' have you ever once subjected the doctrines you have been taught to some academic test; or have you read any material on doctrine that has not come from the Watchtower Society?

You have a right to believe what you hold to be true and the choice is personal but if you have only ever considered one viewpoint then your research is narrow and not credible...think about your answer is you choose to do so that is.

    Cheers

As your body members you control...

Why can't they just say, "Don't masterbate." Of course, I guess that would be too direct, JWs enjoy smoke and mirrors.

Anyway, I remember that song, though I never heard it used in a conversation (at least not one that I can remember).

I have been to other churches and studied other doctrines and even different bibles. I am not close-minded when it comes to religion, but I have not heard anything that would motivate me spiritually, usually when I went to a different church, it was all about birthdays and basketball afterwards or something that might tempt you to go for the wrong reasons. People say that the witnesses' meetings are boring but let me ask this, to go to a "boring" meeting that talks about the bible, would that be the proper motivation to learn?

If your body members you control, you make known that the truth is your own!

I controlled my body members fairly regularly.

Yes that would be the proper motivation to learn...providing those doing the teaching were encouraging you to do your own independent research instead of dictating doctrine according to their own manly views and this is where we differ because whilst you suggest you have not been brainwashed you clearly have been indoctrinated and both are unhealthy in my view.

It would be interesting to hear where you have studied other religions, what sources and materials you have used...
