bingo. i don't think society is necessarily changing, it's just that fundamentalists have the biggest mouths and recently they've found a nice solid stage to holler from.

So my concern about the state of US society is justified. That's what I think after reading this thread. It's rather alarming to an (european)outsider to see this happening to the most powerful country on earth...Though I'm really glad i can read American "dissident" opinions on this forum. All is not lost yet.

Bas- the US media is owned by right wingers so it doesn't surprise me that people outside the country think most Americans are fundamentalist christians that believe anything Bush has to say. Just remember half the country (maybe more...since I don't trust those running the elections) in the last election didn't vote for Bush

Yeah, Fox-news is notorious even here in Europe for being very rightwing. I watch alot of CNN international though that I find pretty good. Though I don't know if it's diffrent from the CNN's in America itself. Is it? Do you have CNN international?

Yeah we have it....although it's on during late hours. Other CNN US programs can be slanted a bit but more fair than FOX.
