I'm happy for her in a way, because she doesn't have to suffer anymore. Death isn't totally bad, you know.

Isn't it weird, if we had a dog or cat sick like that we would mercifully put them to sleep and they would die without pain or suffering. Here a human and we make them die through depriving them of water and food. How twisted it is. I'm for assisted suicide. It was cruel to make her family die that way.
May her family and her soul find peace now. I understand how they felt, but she is better off dead.

Unlikely. It appears the parents and husband and gearing up for a battle over what to do with the corpse. (Burial or Cremation). I believe her parents are mentally ill.

I hate to say it, but would it really surprise anyone if Michael Schiavo gets murdered by some deranged right-winger? I hope I'm wrong.
Me too. But if it happens, it's more likely to be a judge that ruled against reinserting the tube. There are sections of the population which think that the judiciary are out of control and need to be called to account. We have just recently lost two. It would not surprise me in the least if one or more of them turns up assasinated...

Her husband sounds like an absolute **** for not letting her family be there, etc . But we can't possibly know all the facts. The fact his life has been threatened by people claiming to be *against* killing.... erm.... *irony*!
I supported this poor lady being allowed to die, though the method that had to be used horrifies me (if only for the family having to watch her get emaciated).
Hopefully I'll never be in a situation like hers, but if I am I hope the government of the day is civilised enough to have legalised euthanasia.
The case in England which made my mind up about how I feel about the right to die was that of Tony Bland, a young man crushed in a football disaster in my home city. Link with info. -
