Here's a sign:
Isaiah 11:12
He will set up a BANNER for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth

I frequent another message board (nonreligious) and had been away for a few months. I went back and caught up. There was a thread from about a week ago titled "Mt. St. Helen's possibly erupting again...sign of the end?"
I thought it was a joke. It wasn't. It was a poster (who I personally think is nuts, for more reasons than that post) who was seriously contemplating that that one mountain in her local area was a sign of the ending of the world.
I don't look at events in the same light, like a vulture hovering over every news story looking for scraps of the dying system. I will say that I do sometimes see something going on, and wonder if the JWs I knew would be getting their panties in a bunch thinking it's a manifestation of the "sign". Today it's the passing of Terri Shiavo...I'm sure some of them are looking at the comments about religion and politics being too close and thinking that the UN will step in an it will all begin...
Are they so clear that we dont see them ? Good question and one that I gave some thought to.
a) I maintain that the behaviour signs of 2 Tim 3 are highly subjective and open to opinion . Whingers and moaners have been saying that this is true of their contempories for centuries. For every bad report of human behaviour thre can be found an act of unselfish kindness or heroism , it depends where you chose to look.
b) The wars, famines etc are cetainly reported today, but as many have said - this has been the lot of man for all time . figures can be used to prove whatever you want them to prove
c] Natural disasters certainly are prevalent in the recent year, eg Florida and S E Asia, but it would need a longer time period to establish a definate pattern
d] regarding "lawlessnesss" I found a contempory book about Victorian London that demonstrated that the levels of crime and prostitution were as bad, per head , or worse back then
e] In recent years we have seen notable advances toward a more stable society. eg. the fall of communism, the destuction of the Berlin wall, the end of aparthaid in South Africa, and currently hopefull signs in Palestine/Israel . Would these have been expected if Satan if were busy causing "Woe to the Earth"
f] I beleive that the Borg paints a rosy picture of the past before the 1st World War . It ignores the tyranny of bad government, social injustice , grinding poverty and poor health of the greater number of the poor , of which there were many. Nowadays we are better educated about the past and harder to fool than were our parents who accepted the Watchtower statements as fact.
So, the conclusion of the matter is - IMHO , No. we do not ignore the outstanding "Signs of the times". Lets leave that to impessionable WTS students. One thing I have observed about the future , it does what nobody expects...

I read the signs clearly and you seem to be a 'wind up merchant' who's end is near - but as you know signs can be deceptive.
"Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs, f*cking up the scenery breaking my mind "do this" , "don't do that", "can't you read the signs?""- TESLA (cover tune).
I find it hard to believe that only people with the intellect of a MENSA candidate, are clever enough and smart enough to figure out the "mystery" of the "truth" and thus get to live forever. The "creator" either should have made us smarter or His "message" more clear.
Personally I'd love to see "Babylon the Great" as the Dubs teach and understand get her due. I'm afraid the Dubs however will be in for a big shock when their bOrg is included in the desolation. It's every man for himself- Jesus even said that!
Here's to the beast (or is it the image of the beast?) killing the WTS harlot!

Isaiah 54:6-8
For the LORD has called you like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, like a youthful wife when you were refused, says your God. For a mere moment I have forsaken you, but with great mercies I WILL GATHER YOU. With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you says the LORD, your Redeemer.
Isaiah 66:12-14
For thus says the LORD:
"Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream. Then you shall feed; On her sides shall YOU be carried, and be dangled on her knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort You; AND YOU SHALL BE COMFORTED IN JERUSALEM." When YOU see THIS, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like grass; the hand of the LORD shall be known to His servants, and His indignation to His enemies
God has called His wife back from the nations, to Israel, (the BANNER). It is a sign to His servants in the nations, your redemption draws near. imo.
Luke 22:29-33 Is this fig tree already budding, Israel?

i'm just curious, are you using this in reference to Israel gaining statehood in 1948? i'm just wondering what timeframe you are willing to allow because these scriptures seem to speak of the benefits in a present tense.
just curious, i'm not trying to pick on ya.
DOOGIE,
