The thread on "happy JW's" got me to thinking about this. There really are some truly happy JW's. Maybe it's because they don't take all the "do more, do more" stuff to heart and just do what they think is "enough". Whatever. Somehow there are happy ones there. Probably many.
But you see kids on TV that haven't eaten in a week, bloated and sickly, still smiling and playing. They're happy.
People living in slums, in crushing poverty that has no chance of being lifted in their lifetime -- many are happy.
"Happy" can't be all there is to it. "Enrichment"? "Fulfillment"?
If I was just ecstatically happy living inside a cardboard box, gaining nourishment from the mold that accumulates inside, no one would argue that's a good way to live no matter what happiness I experience doing it.
Ok, so what does it take to make a life that people feel is "worth living"?
