Thanks, Lee, for posting this. I refer many a poster to your site (and others too) re up to the minute information on the blood issue. The background of the people behind this website make it the best place to go.

Excellently written, I hope it reaches a lot of people.

What we have here is the result of the Watchtower Writing Department's careful attempt to obfuscate the new policy. Both Jehovah's Witnesses and medical professionals alike are confused by the mixed message the Watchtower is sending.

I mean, when is a fraction a "minor fraction?" and what makes a treatment so close to a blood transfusion that a conscientious witness would not take it?

I can understand difference of conscientious thought where no real loss is contemplated, but one brother could lose his wife, and another in equally good standing , in the same circumstance, keeps her. ?????

I guess they are covering their ass, to say "We did not say you could not" , eg that case in Canada

BTW Lee Elders site is awesome and does a great job..keep it coming

    From your newsletter

WT reasoning on this point is also diminished and contradicted because it completely ignores post-birth healthy transfers between a mother and her child by way of mammary gland secretions that contain white blood cells in abundance, whereas WT doctrine forbids white blood cell transfusion.

I would love to see a reference on this. I googled it but found nothing about white blood cells in mothers milk.

    Another quote:

With this statement the WT makes its religious position clear by stating what it forbids. It forbids ?transfusions of whole blood, packed RBCs [red blood cells], and plasma, as well as WBC [white blood cell] and platelet administration.? Why are these specific constituents forbidden and others?such as hemoglobin 4 ?not forbidden? The journal cites the book Emergency Care where it names the same constituents of blood and then says, ?Thus, in line with medical facts, Witnesses refuse transfusions of whole blood or any of its four primary components.?

AJWRB always says this but the Society has NEVER mentioned hemoglobin by name. Why does AJWRB consistently say this when there is nothing that the Society says about hemoglobin?
