    Hi i am an Active Jehovahs Witness I am Baptised. For me the biggest Advantage for me being a Jehovahs Witness is that i know the Bible cover to cover. The Bible is very useful and helps me alot with my life and my life problems.Which of course i have many since i am a teenager.

    quote from MGonzales:

    " I'd say that the biggest advantage of being a JW is that you learn the Bible..JWs really do learn and study the Bible and this knowledge becomes very helpful".

    I for one agree. The Bible is very helpful. The knowledge of the Bible is interesting. Knowledge of the Bible is Power.

    As for many of Watchtower Publications i have, one of them is second of my list when i need help. "Questions that young people ask"--Answers that work. This is a good book for Teenage Jehovahs Witness like me. "Questions..." is very useful, many of the topic's cover many of a teenager's problems that are most occur in our "everyday teenage life's". If problems arise that we are unable to deal with "Questions..." helps me with useful information to help me overcome these problems.

    Also Watchtower & Awake magazine's also have useful and have great articles. That generally help with your life and how you view on certian issues that affect our lifes.

    quotes from MGonzales:

    "..becomes very helpful once you start looking at the Bible more objectively and not with WTS binders...."
    "..You began to see the God of the Bible for what He really is, not as the WTS portrays Him."

    I stongly disagree all the statements in red. The Watchtower is the Truth. I'd wish all the apostates would just accept that we are Jehovah Witnesses we have our belief's they should just accept the fact and move on with your own life's.

    Sorry that i had to leave this post on a Sour note but my next post i will try to make it better at the end.

    I think the difference in opinion as to jdubs 'knowing their bible' may boil down to this: JW's know the bible 'STORIES' ie. the reason I always clear the bible column on Jeapordy! And they know the scriptures that support WT doctrine and interpretation.

    I remember a few pios. who knew the book and verse off the top of their heads ... me, I could remember what the scripture said and use the index pretty quickly to find it ... always in rebuttal and to support WT interpretations.

    I have moved on with my life. If you chose to be a slave to the WTBTS that is your choice. Just as it is my choice to discuss what I've been through and how I came out of that organization along with anything I want to share on this forum. Most of us here have that in common.

    My advise to you is ... you need to learn more about the organization you serve. Notice that you said "THE WATCHTOWER IS THE TRUTH" Where does the BIBLE come in at?????????

    If JWs knew the bible, they would not stay JWs. The reason many leave is because they learn about the bible after they become JWs.

    I guess you might be referring to interpretation that you don't agree with more than actual wording and location of scripture.

    I'm not talking about any "interpretation", just simply what the bible says. Not to mention the fact, that the NWT inserts words that change the meaning and the interpretation. So what little they learn about the bible has been slanted.

    Deputy Dog, what Bible isn't slanted to one belief or another?

    I had a Catholic friend once tell me that the NWT was altered to fit JW beliefs. He didn't know what scripture(s) (I assumed John 1:1), so I later found two official (Papal Stamped) RCC Bibles that had different text...

    (Similar to this example at 1 John 5: 6-8)

    http://bible.com/bible_read.html

    - Douay-Rheims Bible (Catholic)
    =======================
    6 This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ: not by water only
    but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit which testifieth that Christ is
    the truth.

    7 And there are Three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word,
    and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one.

    8 And there are three that give testimony on earth: the spirit, and the
    water and the blood. And these three are one.

    - New American Bible (Catholic)
    =======================
    6 This is the one who came through water and blood, 2 Jesus Christ, not by
    water alone, but by water and blood. The Spirit is the one that testifies,
    and the Spirit is truth.

    7 So there are three that testify,

    8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood, and the three are of one accord.

    =======================
    Note that I'm not trying to make any kind of Trinity argument here, just showing that words are sometimes added (or removed, however you want to look at it). IIR, the current position of the RCC is that this particular Trinity text (verse 7) should not be there, but the KJV has decided to leave it in anyway.

    Another advantage is that you cannot blame God for not warning you about what is to befall mankind. I?ve come to the conclusion that since we humans are incapable of seeing things from Gods perspective we fail to appreciate the justice in what he does

    Trying the quoting thing.

    I believe too many humans are incapable of coming to grips that this really might be all there is. I have problems with it myself.

    I see no reason why I should believe the Bible was written by anyone but mere mortal men. God's so-called justice might have seemed like justice to the Bible writers of that time as they had no problem inventing stories that we today find (or should find) repulsive. "We humans can't understand the mind of God" is just an excuse for not being able to rationally explain the irrational conduct of God as man portrays him in ancient text, IMHO.

    I see early Christianity as a doomsday cult, which eventually morphed into the Roman Church (the first and main Christian religion and holders of the oldest manuscripts). Anyone watch the History Channel today on the origin of the Papacy? Holy crap was this institution Evil! And all other churches branched out from this abomination???

    I guess it doesn't matter if I don't believe that the Bible is inspired from some higher being. I do believe that all of you claiming to really know your Bible would disagree how to interpret it, but I guess that goes without saying. I've always been a big fan of Alan F's posts BTW, if that tells you anything about me.

    Which lie? That God exists? That God is love? Or something JW specific?

    I think you just proved my point.

    This passage is known as the "Comma Johanneum". Students of the bible are aware of the different Greek texts. Many question the Codex Montfortianus, which is the source of the longer rendering, many bibles note this. The unsuspecting JW thinks this is a Trinitarian conspiracy, when in fact it was a Trinitarian (Erasmus) that first left it out, in 1516 because of a lack of manuscript evidence.

    What are you even doing here on this site? If you told your elders you were posting positive comments on an "apostate" site they would counsel you and warn you if you ever did it again you would be disfellowshipped.

    You seem to think we are all bitter people unable to move on with our lives. Ponder this.....

    I left the "borg" over 15 years ago. I did the slow fade and moved across the nation just to get away from the JW's. Who calls me to bother me about some judicial matter from 17 years ago?!? The borg! Who can't move on with their lives?

    When I left I just knew it wasn't for me and wanted to be left alone. No bitterness. Just not for me. With my parents and siblings in "the truth" I bit my tongue for 15 years not saying what I really wanted to because I thought to myself "Hey just cause it ain't for me, why spoil it for them if they need that as part of their life?"

    Well last October my parents hit me with a "We don't agree with your lifestyle, neither does Jehovah, and you need to read this new tract from the borg". I told them 3 times to stop their interegation or I would lose my temper. They persisted and I lost my cool.

    By them not leaving me alone, and quoting scripture at me last fall is what drove me to this site, to read Crisis of Cons., and other "so-called apostate" things. My parents have a problem with my lifestyle but don't seem to have a problem driving the car I bought them for their 40 th wedding anniversary. Also, don't seem to have a problem with using the computer I bought them for their 41st wedding anniversary.....

    After reading Crisis it made me realize what I had always known. Not only were they the silly, kooky, out of touch organization I always thought them to be, but rather cold, calculating, EVIL and DISPICIBLE as human beings that deserve whatever they get when they pass on.
