When it comes to the things that are important, to be able to comfortably co-exist with each other as human beings, the aspect of community really takes on a sense of urgency. I don't believe Jehovah's Witnesses take this into consideration. The people who live on your street should eventually come to be as close as is humanly possible. These individuals often are the only ones who can keep an eye out for your property and person, and can kinda' be your eyes and ears when it is your not home. I'm becoming less stiff in the department of keeping my neighbors at bay, and actually look forward to the time when I can become even more relaxed around them.
I try to make sure to participate in small events such as assisting in snow removal or salting your neighbors sidewalk as well as your own. When I couldn't shovel the snow because of health problems this year and found my front walk totally absent of any snow, it was a most moving and humbling experience. This came as result of having slightly gone out of my way to send a batch of salmon patties to a neighbor who expressed in the past, how much he had enjoyed my cooking. Neighbors, good neighbors, are a necessity to comfortably co exist with the rest of the world.
