Oh yes, the Internet. When I was first having really serious doubts, the Net showed me tht there were 1000s of others o out there with the same problems I had with the WTS and Witness explanations. The fact that I wasn't the only one for whom WTS explanations no longer made much sense., was hugely important to me. I then knew that it wasn't MY problem, it was the WTS's. S4

The one that's so striking to me is their misquoting of other sources to support their positions. The failed prophecies, changing doctrine, bad history can all be explained away with their "New Light" magic wand. But how does a rank-and-file dub explain why the Watchtower needs to distort the words of other to support their position?

Everybody makes very good points.

So it seems that the entire structure is weakening toward its enevitable demise.

Any one of these, though important can be covered up if everthing else is strong. However, the foundation is weakening and the prophetic timeclock is running out.

Yeah, the prophetic timeclock is running out alright. What happens when they don't have any anointed left? There goes the FDS out the window and 90% of the Christian Greek Scriptures turn obsolete.

1914 was 91 years ago... and the last I heard some ppl of that "generation" were going to live to see the end.

If you factor in the "age of understanding" even being generous and saying it is like 10years old... how many ppl do you know who were 10 years old in 1914 are still alive now?

They have predicted the end too many times... they are running out of excuses.

Also, I dont know about every where else in the world but in Montreal, QC they are loosing control of their young people. I left to be with a non-witness and since then I have seen about 6 different young people from the same congergation engaging in "inappropriate behavior". (and those are the ones I happened to run into!) None of them were disfellowshipped... they are acting. There is a serious epidemic of "double-life" going on.

You apparently have not heard the New Light on this topic. They dropped the idea of some from the 1914 generation being alive to see the end back in 1995... wow its been 10 years. Although dont' feel bad, I don't think a lot of current JWs have even comprehended what a big adjustment this is.

Ok this along with the Internet, is their biggest problem, and not just in Montreal. The kids ain't just buying into it. And they know how to work the system so they can avoid DFing.

It will be very interesting when 2014 rolls around, will there be more or less JWs than there are now...

Pandemic lack of educated people, I?m afraid that even if they do survive recent storms their current stance toward higher education will eventually render them out of touch with reality, which is something new generation certainly are not going to tolerate.

To add: if UN thing didn't make a dent till know it is unlikely to do so in the future

child abuse? possibly, still hard to tell, but I don't think so, dubs accept doctrine about needing 2 witnesses to the crime as given
