  I looked into backwards masking quite some time ago and checked the songs in question.

  When I played "Another One Bites the Dust" backwards, I heard something that sorta sounded like "We like to smoke marijuana" but you could only hear it if you wanted to. It's pretty much nothing but a song playing backwards.

  I played "Stairway to Heaven" backwards and found nothing.

  However, many songs by "Electric Light Orchestra" have backwards masking. Some of the things I've heard:

  "You're playing me backwards"

  "Thank you for listening"

  "The music is reversible, but time is not.... turn back.... turn back.... turn back"

  Weird Al put a backwards message in his song "Nature Trail to Hell". It says "Satan eats cheese whiz"

  The Beatles used backwards masking as well. Usually it was nothing but the same lyrics playing backwards. If you play "Free as a Bird" backwards, you'll hear John Lennon say "It turned out nice again"

  However, the band Venom did a song called "In League with Satan" and you can clearly hear a bunch of "satanic" messages like "I'm gonna burn your flesh, I'm gonna taste your blood", etc.

  Ok, one day my mom had the stereo radio on to a "lite" station. It was playing a Simon and Garfunkle song but without the words.... you know, muzak stuff?

  Well my mom said something like "hey, that's really nice music"

  I said "Mom, come hear the original, listen closely to the words" and I played the original from my "Best Of' album. I thought my mom was going to faint! But she did say the music was better on the original.

  Pretty much everything but oldies rock was suspect. I personally had my own qualms about listening to Love Shack, Love in an Elevator, and others. I remember being really interested in the radio when my cousin had MTV for awhile, but my religiosity would not let me continue to listen to the radio as everything was suspect fro giving me sexual ideas and I was trying to quit masturbating because I wanted to have "nothing to be ashamed of" as a Christian witness. But this still did not let me forgive myself for even starting. To this day I still have a complex about it. I have wet dreams of me masturbating instead of dreaming about my mate. Isn't that sad?

  P.S. Now I listen to whatever I want within reason. Yes, there were some bad oldies songs, too. But now I am not so anal that I absolutely have to change the channel each time i hear something offensive unless it really is. Such as the song where the guy sings about getting "little bit" of every girl he sees. that makes me ill because it seems that the watchtower is right about the attitude of those outside of the bOrg.
