Give blood, take blood...yeah, I'm happy...it's all good. Those WT mind shackles are off now and forever. Amen
Blood- would you/have you given/taken it?

If it's allowable to receive it (even minor fractions), it must be allowable to give it.

I T Support has it right. The only consideration in my mind now is a medical one. However , it has taken several years to get me this far.. The J W dogma runs very deep and it is a shackle that is hard to break. The taboos within the dubs of my close family are such that they equate a transfusion with an almost certain death from Aids, Hepatitus or something eqully nasty.
I feel that I should have my say on the matter if I should be unconscious... -

There are so many conditions that could be introduced such as: lupus, diabetes, leukemia, etc. Whose to say you will not end up predisposed to one of those things after taking a blood transfusion.
I would be very interested to see any evidence or references for these claims. I have certainly never heard of any research that indicated that one could "catch" diabetes or cancer.Like I said, "Not that I'm an expert or anything." Those were just my opinions not to be taken as fact.
Personally, I use a condomn when I have sex so as not to contract anything and I don't just have sex with anyone. There is no condomn for blood and who knows who the blood is coming from. I am just not interested in introducing foreign bodies into my system, unless absolutely necessary, for fear I would be introducing any predispositions the person has toward any diseases, etc. into my body. JMHO.
As I said though, if blood is necessary to save my life I would consider the benefits of taking it to outweigh the risks of not taking it.
I am an organ donor and I plan to get into the bone marrow registry awhile after I deliver my baby since I'm not sure it would be safe at this juncture and I cannot afford the time off work right now. As for donating blood... I have not done so yet but I imagine I will in the future.
