Did your responsibilities in the congregation prevent you from travelling?

If you were a ministerial servant, or an elder, did your congregational responsibilities hurt your travel plans? Did you go to the meeting instead of going out with other witnesses for a vacation?

Did you say, "I'm taking out the group" or "I'm doing the sound" ?

How did you deal with this?

A brother recently mentioned to me, that he would love to travel a bit, but can't, because of his responsibilities.

Don't these people ever take time off?

Hmmm, I didn't have responsibilities (being a girl!) but I tried to pioneer & worked part-time & so never had the time or money to go travelling. Now I am married with a toddler & busy with uni - but I'll get there one day!

It never held us back. I suspect some use it as an excuse.............not wanting to spend the money, or they can't afford it.

Dave was an elder for almost 25 years, and I was a pioneer. We traveled a lot!!

We also travelled a lot. Often we also attended at least one meeting at the destination, mostly because of curiosity as to the KH/Congregation makeup, more than gaining any spiritual input. (Remember once, we travelled with a bunch of witnesses, (preferred to go alone normally), I remember one elder being totally against going to the meeting, but he had to give in to peer pressure :-)

Yes in a roundabout way. The "privileges" were the cause of not being able to get ahead financially to travel. Except to Bethel Tours or Quickbuilds.

"They": believe they're gliding down the highway,

when in fact they're slip-sliding away".

    No.

Joe Hoba could get help with responsibilities from the spirit beings who are directing the work.

I don't really like to travel, but when I took little vacations, it was no big deal. Then again, I was only a pioneer, so there you go. But people go on cruises and vacations all the time where I'm at and nothing ever happens to them. They do have talks saying you should make arrangements to attend the meeting while on your vacation. Yeah right.
