Personally I don't think he looks like a bastard, just an old guy. But I suggest you type "cardinal ratzinger" into google and see what sort of stuff he's written. He's hardline and not known for his flexibility and a great believer in absolute truth. Maybe he will open the church to debate, engage in dialogue with other faiths, but I greatly doubt it.
