Quit feeling guilty for things that I had been doing that I shouldn't have been doing per JW law.
But I did start doing things that I had avoided while trying to be a good dub but secretly wanted to do. In no particular order:
Subscribed to Playboy
Subscribed to HBO and Cimemax.
Purchased and viewed porn
Watched R-rated movies without fear of being found out and purchased many of my favorite ones.
Tried smoking...didn't like it...gave it up.
Went to strip clubs with my new 'worldly' buddies.
Got drunk a few times on vacations(I've since given up the drunk part....still drink but I hate hangovers)
Traveled with 'worldly' people, associated with 'worldly' people, partied with 'worldly' people.
Gotten involved in hometown politics somewhat. Participating in neighborhood groups concerned about certain policies and laws and how to go about changing them to better help neighborhoods.
Making friends with neighbors and interacting with them, associating with them and being there for them when they need help.

The first thing my hubby and I did was get tattoos. But we have always felt completely free to defile eachother in the bedroom-------I have never understood how some JWs were bullied into confessing their private business. What a load of crap! I didn't know one young JW couple who didn't have oral sex before marriage. Wouldn't that freak out the fossilized members of the GB? Especially since some only believe in the missionary position.
The biggest thing though that I had always considered the ultimate in seperating myself from the org was registering to vote.

Christmas!!!!!! I absolutely love Christmas. I think I have been making up for the years I didn't participate. My house is covered in decorations, lights, big tree, turkey in the oven, all that wonderful Pagan stuff I enjoy so much.
I enjoy all the other Pagan holidays too. Cracked me up one time when my JW sister stopped by my apartment around Halloween--I had skeleton and ghost lights up and all the things my kids had made. Surprisingly enough she didn't say a word about it.

Hmm what was the first thing I did? I'm like JeannieBeanz I also grew a brain and went to uni, but I bought a pack of smokes, had a drink, and affair rediscovered my inner slut and just generally made up for lost time. That was 10 years ago...
I continue to live an unapologetic life, smoke, have the occasional drink, get kinky in bed on a very VERY regular basis, have tatts, wear funky clothes (anything even REMOTELY JW like is banned from my closet forever more!!) and most importantly I now SAY WHAT I THINK!!! Being a JW woman/turned feminist academic tends to do that to you:)

Christmas!!!!!! I absolutely love Christmas.
Totally!!! i had my first christmas at my boyfriends house. (my jw mom was out of town) i was so overcome i started crying!!!! we had been dating for barely a month and this was my first time meeting all his friends. they were all so warm and they all gave me presents......it was the best night of my life!!! 'course....my baby boy gave me a special present when everyone left....
i can't wait till my birthday...MAY 22!!!! WOO-HOOOO!!!!
