Unbeliever, did the staff and customers hear that dire pronouncement made on your group?
Yes the other customers sitting near us heard him say that. They probably thought the elder was crazy talking about Armageddon and repenting. Then we made our "witness". There were some smiles.
Then the dubbies had to be all dramatic about their exit. A bunch of humphs and glares.
Pretending not to notice them, I would have got your whole group to bow their heads and then start praying... "Dear Satan..."
I know I wish we had done something like that. I talked to a couple of them about something we could have done different. Or not done different but said more. I've thought of a million different hilarious things I wish we would have done.

You could have had some real fun and told the waiter that it was one of their birthdays, and then had all the staff sing to them with the funny Mexican hat on their heads. It happens so fast they might not have been able to stop it.
Finally the oldest of the group, a ministerial servant came up with an idea - he would be the spokesman for the group so the others wouldn't have to speak to me. So he started with what he wanted to eat and then would ask what the guy next to him would like, that guy would tell him and he would tell me, so on and so on. It was utter ridiculousness.
"Tell him: 'I said I'm not talking to him!'"
