Yeah, I think it's buried under all those Revelation books, and Truth books, and Ezekiel books the WTBS put out....somewhere under here is the proof of 607....oh, wait let's do what all fundies do...just repeat it time, times, and 1/2 times until someone believes it.

Would it make any difference to the ordinary Witness if it shown that the Watchtower's chronology is incorrect, and not of the Bible? I wonder.
Unfortunately VM44, I think not! The basic problem lies in the concept that Jah has chosen them. Now, all errors, misquotes, false prophecy, lies, scandals, mistreatments, coverups, ect, are covered under the basic statement that "we will wait on Jehovah to correct his organization. In the meantime we must maintain integrity'.
In instilling that sort of mental filter the GB has been successfull in misleading millions down a primrose path of fantasy. It no longer matters to most in that fantasy that it is just a dream with no foundations.
Sadness.

I believe there are people on this board who have said that finding out about the lack of support for the 607 chronology was one of the first things that made them stop and think. So don't be sad ! You never know what will make people start asking questions and thinking critically.
I have asked various JW's at my door if they could please give me a scholarly source which supports the 607 date for Jerusalem being destroyed. I always tell them that I would be happy to read anything they can find for me on it. I explain that I used to teach Sunday School and my husband used to work at an archaeology magazine and that I have never read any scholarly articles or encyclopedias which say Jerusalem was destroyed in 607.
Since most JW's don't even realize that the rest of the world disagrees with their date, I figure this is a good starting point. Hopefully, they will at least go to the local library and be surprised to see that none of the encyclopedias or other reference works support the 607 date.
I haven't been visited in a couple of years, though. They skip our house.
