    vitty,

I remember someone on here suggested you give your old hall, a friends name and address to send your cards to if you move congregations. We are moving soon and would like to disappear. Would they check that youd given them the new secetarys name and address

Do you think this is possible.

I think it's well worth trying.

If you tell the secretary you've been to your new hall and this is their secretary's name and address, 99 out of 100 will accept it and post the cards without question. Not only will you get your cards, but you'll also get to read the old secretary's coverning letter, in which he tells the new congregation what the body of elders really think of you, which might easily be libellous. This should be kept as it could be be useful in the future if they ever started giving you any hassle about wanting to d/f or d/a you, etc!!

Of course, you might be unlucky and have some smartass secretary who'll ring Brooklyn for confirmation of the new secretary's address...

    DB74,

apparently the WTS directors could well have been vicariously liable for the acts of their elders...

Now this is getting really interesting! The WT Britain directors could go to prison because a local elder mishandles a judicial matter? Fantastic! Subsection 2 says:

    (2) Where the affairs of a body corporate are managed by its members subsection (1) shall apply in relation to the acts and defaults of a member in connection with his functions of management as if he were a director of the body corporate.

So, have I got this right? Any wrong acts committed by an elder in managing the congregation will make the elder and WT jointly liable?

no wonder the WTS is seperating itself legally from the congregations!

Do you think a court would accept this, as it's purely an artifical separation specifically designed to protect the Society, and more specifically its assets, from any such liability?

They keep the records to cover their lying asses if there are legal tangles later, OR

The new light will make them Mormon-Like and they're going to baptize the dead df'ed. It's the "Apostate Geneologies." Once again, New Light in next year's publication - "We are God's People - Not You!"
