Brilliant idea if you can keep things close to your chest until you start the tidal wave of dissent. I would imagine that the numbers of people disassociating themselves have reached epidemic proportions and the GB is trying to salvage what they can out of the debacle that has ensued for their century of lies and deceptions.
BTW, thankyou for your honesty SBF. You have made my day!!!

Yeah for sure, welcome Charisma! Nice to read your posts.
I know, I think the new policy is the biggest attempt to further mystify the shunning arrangement and give dubs the illusion that 'all is well in our little spiritual paradise', and that whoever became '.. no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses' is a fornicating - drug injecting - brain-dead heathen.
BTW, I liked your idea Slim. Very Littletoe.

thank you.
Well since I haven't been to meetings in a couple of years, I have not read about this new stuff. Maybe in a way it would make it easier to come out of the closet to no longer wanting to be a Jehovah's Witness.

I don't need a topic all about me. I just wanted to share with everyone in the discussions! I'm also very interested in seeing if there is new stuff to know since I stopped associating. This topic caught my eye

To them disassociation or disfellowshipping are nothing but the same political weapon, the desperate intention of which is to protect the leadership from hostile action, because its position is very weak across numerous teachings. Their credibility can very easily be damaged by objective criticism.
So If they don't shut off all contact between the JWs and their own critics they will soon fall to pieces because it doesn't take much to show that their ideas are totally moronic.

Hello there, slimboyfat,
I agree with you, although I hadn't considered that the policy might force people to more desperate means to make the distinction known. For my own part, I did DA expressly so that my former friends and associates would know that it was a consciencious decision, and hearing the new policy made me glad that I had done so when I did.
Then again, I have never been one for spectacular displays, so I don't think I would have tried the approach you suggest. Another reason is that your explanation window would be about 15 seconds before your listeners totally and completely shut down their minds. I think I still would have gone the letter route and simply made it clear in my letter that the choice was mine.
Interesting thread.
