That talk was given to insult the R&F. It's almost like it was done on purpose. I think they are pushing the Fence Sitters and only want the Ubers.
I agree; it seems purposely radical to push the thinkers out.
I have a different take on Morris's rant: It is evidence that traditional "standards" within the organization are not being followed and the tight grip is loosening.
Leaders rant, not when the tide is in their favor, but when they are worried it is turning. Shame is one of the most effective behavior change emotions: Make people feel bad about their behavior and clothing choices and watch their squirming as they listen. Compel them through shame to never wear spandex and/or tight pants outdoors ever again.
Fact is, these rants are periodic signs that "times are a changin'". I remember the damning platform rants against colored shirts and ties in the 60s, sisters wearing mini-skirts or (too much) makeup. It all seems so long ago - but whenever I hear about the latest rant, it brings it all back.
Same old, same old. Meanwhile, your average JW gradually, imperceptibly changes their attire in the disapproved direction. I would expect that if the organization is still an active, growing organization in the 2020s in the west that sisters will be seen out in service wearing pants when the snow hits the fan, but, sadly, it may continue to be a step too far to expect brothers to wear dress shorts in equatorial regions (hey, brothers, the gays love seeing you in shorts :) ).

Yeah, some are like that; others, hook line and sinker, all of it, don't say one thing.
I think even those who are gung ho dismiss some or most, but don't realize it openly.

More and more of us are coming to that conclusion.
Handling a million or so hard-core loyalists is way easier than trying to herd seven or eight million "luke-warm" rank-and-filers...
