I'm sure they are simply trudging their road to happy destiny. It's not always fun to trudge.

I did this summer 2002. It was great fun... for me, that is. The JWs didn't look like there were having any fun at all.

That's because they can't walk and talk at the same time, so one of the two is gonna lose .....plus they're arguing about who gets to take the next door. Some feel that you should just each keep taking your turn regardless of whether or not someone's at home, others think you shud take the door till you frigging well get someone home.

Why do they walk so slowly?

Because, the organization is a black hole and when something is close to a black hole it appears to be moving more slowly through time when seen by an observed who is not near the black hole.

That's true Minimus, many are old and fragile.

I saw an elder in his mid 70's last week in the field service. he had such a hard time bending his knees and going up steps... Wouldn't it be time for him to stay home instead of being in the field service torturing himself like this.

Can you imagine if we could measure the quality of the gospel message preached, measured against the Standard of the Bible? I have never understood why despite the warnings in the New Testament about sticking to what Jesus described as this good news of the kingdom which will be preached to the whole world, the JWs preach a very different twentieth century version. The Bible talks of an everlasting good news which is the basis for the faith that was once and for all time delivered to the holy ones.

2 John verse 9: If anyone does not remain in the teaching of Christ, but goes beyond it he does not have God with him.... verse 10: if anyone comes to you bringing a different doctrine.....

I am astonished that you are so promptly turning away from the one who called you in the grace of Christ and are going over to a different gospel - not that there is another gospel....but even if we ourselves or even an angel from heaven preaches to you a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let Gods curse be on him. I repeat again wha we declared before; anyone who preaches to you a gospel other than the one you were first given is to be under Gods curse.

Actually, i used to feel guilt for not doing enough fs, that when i did do it, even though i didn't like it that much, it was a relief. I felt like i was doing what was the most important work, so i just relaxed while doing it. I could doddle along, looking at the trees or whatever, ~~knowing~~ thinking that i was in a safe place w respect to god.

I wonder if it has anything to do with their arrogant attitude,that they are doing god's work and they want the world to know it, so they walk slow, like they are on display.
