when we see something that goes beyond what we are used to, we tend to react to it.

It's just a shame that the reaction has to be one of disgust.

Breast feeding is both natural and beautiful. I breast fed my son until he was almost 18 months old, it's up to every individual woman to decide when the right time to wean is, not society's. Anyone that finds breastfeeding to be sick or gross has serious issues.

I saw it more often with the JW's that they would breastfeed their babies longer than other people. They always talked about how in the Old Testament kids were breastfed until they were big kids.

I don't have a problem with women breastfeeding--but I do think people should do it in private or at least cover up. I'm not being prudish, I just don't care to see people doing it out in public like at the mall or wherever. And unless you live in a grass hut, I don't feel it's appropriate to keep doing it until the child is potty-trained and running around.

Your statement is so beyond stupid that I feel ashamed to even answer back, but I will simply state that a baby's nourishment does not ever have to wait on others prudishness or morality. When babies are hungry they need to be fed. If you don't want to see it then simply look away, it's that simple.

I think breastfeeding is more popular than it was 20 years ago. I think its great to see mums breastfeeding, why should they hide. You can feed them without anything "showing". I remember a big fuss when a woman was breastfeeding in a cafe and someone complained. thats crazy. Its common place where I live to see mums feeding in cafes and restaurants, id be more put off my food, by someone who had no table manners, but you cant complain about that !

My daughter was 2 when I stopped. She was only nursing 2 times a day by then, morning and at night when I got home from work. Until she was a year, she only had breast milk, no cow's milk. She was eating solids of course after about 6 months. At 2, she was still such a baby (insert oooohhhhs and awwwws) then and she loved "reconnecting" each morning and at night and so did I.......it was truly very bonding. She still rememberrs that she used to nurse. I miss having her sit with me skin to skin like that and how quiet we could be and just look at each other.

Every once in a while, she asks me to hold her like a baby and she will lay back and drink her milk from a sippy cup like its a bottle......... still such a baby even though she just turned 4 the other day.

JW policy would be not to have children in the first place and leave all your money to the WTBTS.

However, those lusty enough to get pregnant have discovered a novel way of not having to sit for hours listening to WTBTS crap from the platform. If you breastfeed you get to go out and sit in the mother's room with the rest of the mums and have a good laugh and a natter (talk). This is FUN! This means that two hours fly. Now it would be a pity for this to last only a few months so that's why bored JW mums get to continue breastfeeding for 2 to 3 years if they get the chance!

I knew a JW woman that breast fed her son up to the age of 15. He would come home from school and practically beg for it until she finally gave in and let him have at 'er.

I have always felt breastfeeding is a personal decision for any mom. How long it should go on can be debated till the end of time and it will always come down to everyone is different and has to do what is best for them. Now Im not saying that kids should be nursed indefinatly, IMO if they are old enough to ask for it they are too old to have it. Both of my kids weaned themselves by 9 months and it made me sad. For me there is nothing that can compare to the closeness you have with your baby when you nurse.

As far as public nursing goes. Most mommys are careful to cover up and if a bit of flesh shows so what. Im sure you see worse just walking down the street. People that get shocked or offended at a baby eating need to grow up. I once had an older lady tell me I should go to the restroom to feed my daughter (mind you I was in a corner booth at a restaurant and she was completly covered) I looked up at her smiled very sweetly and asked her if she would like to go and eat her lunch in a public toilet. She was speechless lol.
