I like your song! Keep all the lyrics you write, maybe you will become famous one day. Many great songs are born from a broken heart.
I keep writing really dark songs

I wrote a song about the org too. I'm more into celibrating my life since leaving then harping on the old times. The hook goes something like this
But when you leave it behind
You see the world's not that bad
It's still far from perfect
But who really wants that
Look deep inside you will find
A purpose crying for you
Don't listen to elders
baby do what you do
just be, just be
Don't have to serve nobody
Just be, Just be
Don't have to serve nobody
Just be, Just be
Don't have to serve nobody
Just be, Just be
(It kind of looses a little bit of the flavor without the music, but I'll be recording it as soon as I can figure out this new graveyard shift I'm working)
BTW: what's your musical background? Do you sing? Play in a band? If so i would love to hear some of your music. Send me a PM if you feel it would be more appropriate. -

Dustin,
Thanks so much for sharing your very moving lyrics with your forum-mates here...
I think it helps to write out our darkest thoughts and feelings...it helps us transmute experiences that poison our hearts and minds into something that can heal and empower -- both for ourselves and for those who are going through similar things...
Keep writing and heep sharing (please)...
And tij,
jw aid -- gotta love it!!! Whose in?

I have a computer full of evil lyrics. Here's another one for you. Let me know what you think.
Memories
Burned and Jaded
Alone I?m dead and slowly faded
A broken dream
A silenced scream
Forever is the longest time
Alone I broke without a clue
All I had
All I knew
I will never be saved
From the dead to a grave
Misery the only company I ever knew
Where the fuck were you
Memories
Death is a blessing in disguise
When all you knew is hate and lies
These memories I despise
Forever is the longest time
Alone I broke without a clue
All I had
All I knew

DUSTIN!
you love songwriting? OMG so do I and my songs are dark as well!
we should form a band (we are all over the world though *sigh*) I can sing, songwrite and play guitar! and we can call our band disfellowshipped or something! lol (i'm just off with the fairies I know this is sooo unlikely to happen!)
I'm not a jw or an ex-jw but I write songs related to the organisation, I can read other peoples stories and write songs related.
My type of music I like is rock, gothic rock heavy metal etc. as you can see my fav band is evanescence!
I was also thinking when i'm older to make a movie based on a story of a jw that way we can show the whole world what the organisation do to ppl and they can come into realisation themselves on what their actions cause. (the only problem is it can be a bit controversal) but if I make the movie with 100% honesty thay can't complain if they don't like the movie then they can't complain because its a true story!

Oh, I did that...
Get Me Out of Here copyright control Gyles Williams 1997 Something inside has died and I just want to cry But the tears won't come.Trying to change the way I feel inside Just cannot be doneWorking in the hours of darknessWaiting for the day to changeWorking in the hours of darknessIf I believed in god I'd prayGet me out of hereGet me out of hereThe traffic makes the saddest soundSwirling through the rainy townGet me out of hereGet me out of hereThe traffic light's my only lightShining through my window
... etc.
Sad songs are good therapy. They are also 'easier' to write than happy songs... but I have a business meeting so can't comment more now...

True sad songs are easier than writing happy songs, well thats the case for me anyway.
