Did every congregation have one or two desperate singletons?

Knew a sister that was a stalker. Once she had a fellow in the cross hairs where he went she went. Would park in front a guys house till he got home, no matter the time. Got the police called late one night by a brother's neighbors, he didn't know she was out front. Rumor had it she carried a sleeping bag in the trunk. This girl drove a Pontiac as big as a steam ship, so, who knows. She was a good lookin kid too, but desperate. Sad to say she got taken advantage of more than once.

We had one, a female though. She wasn't just the congregation desperado, she was the city's desperado. She was known in the entire city for being the first one "on scene" whenever there was a new brother in town. She started somewhere in her teens to look for a husband. And she only married about 2 or 3 years ago, at around 40 years of age, a 25 year search.

It was real hard around here, the ratio seemed to be about 100 single sisters, for every one single brother. Part of many things that discouraged me away from the organization, we were told we were to just "wait on Jehovah..."

I remember in the KH I went to there was always at least one desperate singleton who would sniff around the single women particularly the ones which were his own age...he was mid 40s

That sounds like my exhusband. He's 48 and divorced. Only he sniffs around the 18-28 year olds, according to my son. When I tell my son that I hope his father will find a nice lady to marry who will help him overcome his bitterness, my son says, "Mom, he'll never find anyone. He has no social skills." Sad. Pathetic. But mostly sad. Oh yeah and scary for the poor sisters. He does this with non witness youngsters as well.

There was one in our congo. A brother, smart, mid 30's (in his early 50's now) average looking. He always was a little off to me, but it was said he had done drugs in the past and had an "emotional problem" because of the side effects.

He was after my friends' mom for a long time, but she was happy being divorced. I don't think she even went out with him once, but he was definitely on the stalker path.

Then, he married a 18 year old sister from another part of the state. Their marriage lasted 6 months, and she accused him of all types of things, which no one believed.

Then, about 8 years ago, he married a cousin of mine in her mid 20's.

Soon, the shi*t hit the fan...My cousin moved back in with her parents and filed for divorce. She said she wasn't allowed to say what had happened. She assured me that it was terrible, and it was all his fault.

I looked at the state sex offender registry purely by chance, and there he was, living in my zip code! At first, only his name was listed, no picture. Now, my mom knew that my cousin and him had broken up for something really serious, but she tried to convince me it was a case of someone having the same name. Soon, there was a picture posted of him, and there was no doubt.

I worry so much that he did something to one of my friends when we were growing up. He always gave me the creeps, so I stayed away from him as much as possible=, but others thought he was great.

There were a lot of desperate single sisters in my old hall. They were nice girls, it was just sad to see them wasting their lives hoping for some janitor to sweep (pun intended) them off their feet. They would have had no sweat finding nice boyfriends outside of the BOrg.

Other than those, most of the women never got married and want to wait until "the new system".

Some of them waited until they are dead. Still no WT New System.

    Blondie:

    Very funny but true!

I have always said that a brother could be homely, have $2 bucks in his pocket and own one cheap suit and there would be women who would want him.

But, at least you are referring to men who actually WANT to be married. How about bros. who really don't want to be married but go around leading women on and causing trouble!

We had a dude, not in our congregation, but all over, we used to call him the vulture. He would go to every single assembly, to every circuit and district just looking for women. It was so sad, it wasn't even funny.

I reckon you could say that I was one. All the kids my age married when they hit 18. I suddenly found myself a social leper. Shoot! At one point there were even rumors going around that I was GAY! I eventually did find a nice sister who gave me a try, and we're still together after 24 years. :-)

There are a number of obvious desperate ones (male and female) on the JW dating sites. They post their stories and it's so obvious they are reeeeaaally desperate. It's not just s3xual deprivation, it's also the loneliness, boredom, and low social status that comes with being single in the dub world....oh, and let's not forget the added pressure of being a full time pioneer if you're single...married folk tend to get off the hook easier, what with all their "keeping up the household and marriage" stuff.

Sad that someone is considered over the hill in the jw dating world when they're 20! I got married at 36 and I couldn't be more glad I waited.
