It looks very much like one I had 40 years ago. I had a couple of good aerials hooked up and it dragged in stations like nothing I have owned since.

I was playing around with it one evening and picked up the first broadcast of NZs first pirate radio station, Radio Hauraki, even though I was well out of the theoretical coverage area.

It was a very nice piece and I only let it go because it wasn't practical to take it with us when we moved to Oz. I think I got a dollar for it at auction

    Ever heard of Radio Biola?

    http://www.towerwatch.com/articles_and_stories/articles/the_watchtower_and_medical_quackery.htm

I HAVE named this new discovery, which I believe will be epochal in the history of the treatment of disease, and which I am exclusively announcing in THE GOLDEN AGE prior to its general publication elsewhere, The Electronic Radio Biola, which means life renewed by radio waves or electrons. The Biola automatically diagnoses and treats diseases by the use of the electronic vibrations. The diagnosis is 100 percent correct, rendering better service in this respect than the most experienced diagnostician.... THE principle of operation of the Biola is the collection... of the disease vibrations.... the fluid containing the same waves or vibrations enters the body, meets the disease waves and destroys them.... This is a great step forward, marking the Biola as the most valuable treatment apparatus obtainable today, and well worthy of notice in the columns of a magazine like THE GOLDEN AGE." - The Golden Age, April 22, 1925

if it covers any of the short wave frequencies, you'll be able to hear some good stuff, bbc, radio moscow ect ect.

    Yup! It sure does!

    It has:

    • Phono - A Rear RCA input
    • BC - BroadCast. A different name for AM.
    • SW - ShortWave
  • El Kabong

Here's a good website that has a current listing of what's playing on Shortwave.

    Enjoy.

Looks like a beauty. I don't know how much yours is but I have a 1936 Dictator, fully functioning. I like the sound from it. You do not get the same quality sound from the modern radios. I think you got a good deal to get it under a $ 100 and fully functioning. Enjoy

'Round here that radio would bring $200 or better.

You know if you are not careful you may have started an addiction....Tube radios are very collectable and have turned in a regular sub culture. Enjoy!

    Else,

That is a beauty! I have an old radio/record player from the 30s or 40s too. I paid 25 for it at an antique store. It worked in the store, but didnt when it was delivered....argh...husband assures me we can find the stuff to get it fixed if we look hard enough. Mine isn't in as great condition as yours, though. We use it for a tv stand in our bedroom, hahah. I love it....it looks cool.

    That link was so funny!

When I first met my hubby (His mom was a jw) I got the feeling they didn't believe in Drs. When we later got married and had a baby..it got sick..was running a fever and had a cold. I wanted to call the Dr. but hubby and his mom insisted we use a spectrum light!..It had different colors and was supposed to heal!..HA!..Now I know that was probably in the Magazines too.

Well she kept getting sicker and against their wishes I took her to the Dr. She got a shot and was better in a few days..they probably thought I was the devil..

I couldn't believe all those things they wrote!..I thought the no vacine thing was their Idea..now I see the Magazines were behind it!..

I finally got the kids vaccinated but it wasn't until later than it should of been..long after they started school..

Thanks again for the site..I loved it!

Snoozy..who's always learning something new from these boards!
