i was just looking back over some of the evolution vs. creation debates that have taken place here on JWD in the recent past. and i was struck by something. sorry if this has been done already.

practically all posts (i could almost safely say "ALL") in the debates are authored by males.

i know that there are a lot of super bright women on this board. but why this trend? i don't mean for this thread to be a debate. i am truly curious.

does anyone, especially you females, care to enlighten me?

great question. i have no idea why and i have nothing to add, but great question.

i try to talk to my girlfriend (who is a female, last i checked) about this stuff as i learn and she honestly couldn't care less. she laughs at me when i buy books about science and evolution (she says i'm going to college but not getting any credits). i think some of the stuff kind of scares her too because she's a pretty devout catholic.

I've noticed that some woman on this board seem inclined to believe in God without evidence moreso than a lot of the men. I don't know if it's an emotional attachment or what. Maybe they just don't care about the details of evolution or whatever.

okay, not sure if it is my avatar or not. i really try not to be a troll. do i come off as one?

anyways, i called my wife, a witness, to extract a response to this thread from a female. interestingly she is pretty liberal about science. she thinks that evolution has a lot going for it, and is "waiting on jehovah" (and the GB) to make it "right" with evolution. she hopes that they can marry doctrine with science.

so, her answer to the question was: that it's not that she is not interested in evolution, she is just not interested in debating the two sides, especially with someone like me that is pretty strong on the issue. she just does not see it as a big issue, and doesn't really care what others believe. "we're all just here now, and that's what counts."

any other takers? (male or female) surely, some women on this board have a reason. go ahead, let me have it, i won't stop you!

tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk.... tetrapod. You bad boy, trying to be visible like a reflector in the dark, are we? LOL

Okay, I'll admit -reluctantly- that GBL has a point. I have no evidence that God exists, and he still has to answer one of my million prayers, but I still believe that He's out there, in spite of recent "New Light" which has been shining on my study of the bible. Light which seems to highlight contradictions and things that don't make sense.

Interesting question. My girlfriend is pretty interested in evolution. She reads my threads on the evidence with great fascination.

    thanks fairchild, that's interesting.

another female i have noticed posting on one of the debate threads is Bebu. i just also want to clarify something: evolution vs. creation doesn't really have anything to do with theism/non-theism.

so? is it that women in general are less interested in science? if so, why? is there a neurological reason? psychological? emotional? ex-JW women want less to do with debate than "other" women, because of their experience as a JW? i'm still at a loss...

i notice this difference on other boards with the same debates going on. i also notice that it seems men are more prone to think the end of the world is approaching, and embrace radical ideas. is there a co-relation between this and the evo vs. creation debate on this forum? do women, in general, have a better grasp on reality?

Most of the best books on evolution have also been written by men though there is a great women professor at Oxford but I have forgotten her name.

lol, ya i know, it's ugly. there is a disparity. IMO it is only in numbers, not in mental ability. i think of female greats like Lynn Magulis when i say this.
