McSavage added, "As a Fictionologist, I live in a world of pretend. It's liberating."

Replace the word Fictionologist with the dogma of your choice.

This was a 30 minute advertisement for Scientology.

Scientology is a very mean-spirited cult that goes after detractors with useless lawsuits to drain them financially. This cult also drains the pockets of their followers with various scams of enlightenment--more enlightenment means a lot more $$$$$.

Folks like Tom Cruise and other high-profile members get very special treatment from the group because it translates into free press and more members. The god of $cientology is money!

I've heard that the head honchos at Scientology are mean and dirty fighters when somebody says something they don't like. Sounds like another lovely group.

Re Tom and his antics on Oprah....saw Conan O'Brien late last night and they were spoofing it. As I was laughing at the fist pumping, giggling and hooting, I kept wondering why in the world a mature man would act like such a moron on national television.

Tom Cruise is an idiot and not someone that I would be interested in watching an interview with.

he's totally against psychologists for some reason???? I have no idea why

Probably for the same reason that the WTS is against psychologists: Psychologists are trained to spot a cult and would almost inevitably tell someone involved that they were in a cult. Outside influences are not welcome.

I looked at the list of celebrities who belong to the Church of Scientology and give all kinds of financial support to them.......man it's true what the bible says: "..A fool and his money are soon parted..."

There is now a row between Cruise and Brooke Shields over this issue.

"He's on some sort of mission against anti-depressants like paxil and zoloft and he's totally against psychologists for some reason."

The reason for this is because Scientology has always been against psychiatry since the 60's when it was concieved by Hubbard. There was alot of people and organizations who were against psychiatry in those days. From what I've read, many people argued against psychiatry from a leftist/libertarian ideology, while Scientologists claim that psychiatry is "spiritually hazardous." Tom Cruise is a Scientologist because he believes it helped him with dyslexia (spelling?). Scientologists have to spend tons of cash in order to perform rituals in order to have better spiritual health. All of their beliefs are these convoluted concepts described with pseudo-scientific language.
