Hi 7,
I'm curious about how the education years are divided in the States. What school years are covered by Junior and Senior High School and generally what ages would those years cover. Is college after Senior High? Is it before University or instead of Uni.
Before Junior High is Elementary School, yes? What age do the children usually start Elementary School?
Yeh, I know curiosity killed the cat, but that's RF not me!

Weren't those meetings fun?
That infamous "education" article came out just as I graduated. Too bad it, and the Generation change hadn't come a little sooner.
All in all, things worked out fine and I don't mind doing what I do. But it could have just as easily gone the other way. In this system, survival dictates one get every edge they can get. In retrospect, college would have been a good choice, just to do it.
Good for you Kristen. Better late than never.

Hi circare,
I'm curious about how the education years are divided in the United States.
In most states, it is mandatory that a child begin to attend Elememtary school by age 6, with 5 being the norm. Junior High is 7th and 8th grade(ages 13 and 14). Senior High is grades 9-12, with ages ranging from 15-18. College/university are the same thing in this country. A student entering college/university must have a high school diploma or equivalent to enter. The SAT and ACT's are what these institutions use to help evaluate a prospective student's academic capabilities and chances for success. seven

very sad, Kristen, but true.
Lukely, we are in a different situation here in Switzerland. At least, almost every young JW learnt a Job befor pioneering. So most of them started to pioneer in the age of 19 or 20.
And when you finish pioneering, you can mostly affort a family with one income.
I remember, when I was travelling around 10 years ago and also visited JW in South California. I was wondering about the fact, that almost every brother has kind of a cleaning job or work in fast food retaurant. Some brothers couldn't understand, that I waste the time to learn English and travel around in that last days.
They just had the money to survive and could never think of travelling around for 4 months, like I did.
Now, I need English urgently for my job and to chat with you...:-))
And I never ever felt regret of my trips around the world... -
