Banning Alcohol

I think the Society should ban drinking. Anyone caught drinking should be disfellowshipped. Would anyone have family left in the org if they did that? I don't believe a single one of my family would make it. They aren't all heavy drinkers, just most of them!

All the elders in my ex cong. would promptly be df'd. LOL

You can take away the porn but don't dare mess with the booze.

One elder I know drinks like a fish. The first thing he does when he gets home is drink a beer. He will put vodka in his morning OJ.

I agree that there is alot of JW that drink to much. We had a Elder from the big city of Seatle move here and I would go over to his house he would be drinking heavy by 10:00 AM and never stop all day. But Alcohol is not condemned in the bible. Jesus even used Marijuana in the holy oils and said to do the more so as the day draws near. So not only did Jesus drink he was a pot head.

Show and tell time bro! What is your basis for this statement? Your posts are enjoyable, but I need some validity on this one.

Have pity upon these unfortunate people they are under so much emotional strain all the time due to their religion (cult)and all the burdens it places on them plus the general grim existence, and alcohol is their only release.

If only the WTS was a loving mother organisation.

Being that the Society controls every other aspect of JW lives, I just am unable to comprehend why alcohol ISN'T an issue. I know there is councel about over-drinking, but they aren't very serious about it.

The bible doesn't condemn pot smoking or smoking yet it is a disfellowshipping offense. My man smokes pot which of course shocks my family(they think he is evil) yet he is good to me and loves me and a good father and he provides very well. The alcohol in my family has caused much grief. From personal experience, when my husband drank all the time we had violent times and he was just plane nasty. When he either didn't drink or just smoked pot he was wonderful. My sister asked , If I had the choice would I pick alcohol or marij? She was pretty shocked that I adamantly did not pick alcohol. I believe if JW's got their head out of their ass and really thought about this they would either ban alcohol or they would allow pot.

    Happydad.

Take a google ride and put down Marijuana and Jesus. You will get all the answers. Or just click on the link http://www.cannabisculture.com/backissues/cc11/christ.html cannabis was the active Ingredient. Not only do we have the bible record that proves this we have the holy oils that have been dug up from the time of jesus and before which tests have found some of the most potent marijuana oil even for today you could find. It is not a matter of if. Jesus did.

Now thank of all the JW's this would blow up. I personnaly have have dozens of brothers try to prove this wrong. But every single one has had to admit the truth. I love it who self rightous we all are. I have never touched the stuff. But if you want to be Christ like you had better buy you some. Also the incense candles that they used had marijuana in them.

Could it be that some people at the top like drinking? There is also a tradition in this society for heavy drinking going back to Rutherford who was almost certainly an alcoholic, and maybe they find it hard to break tradition. Or it's just the need for a safety valve to let off steam in a very high pressure environment.

It's indeed strange that heavy drinking (and also child abuse) are tolerated in a very conservative society like this.

    Thanks Skyman,

    I just read this...............http://www.cannabisculture.com/backissues/cc11/christ.html

    Holy shite!!!!!!!!!!

I learn something new almost every day. Now I understand why the rastafarians use it.

The issue of smoking always baffled me. No smoking but alchohol was ok. It was said that there was "food value" in alchohol. I became one of those elders who wound up drinking to excess and causing my family misery. The pressures of JW life push so many into a booze fog cause they have no other way of dealing with the stress of it. At least I realized I had a problem and went to Alchoholics Annonymous. About a year later I resigned as an elder when I saw that "worldly" people weren't all that bad. They treated me better than any JW ever did. Thus the beginning of my internal questioning of the "truf."
