Was it made clear enough that they were discouraged from going to the police.
I think so. Of course, as the program made clear, this was to be seen as a follow-up to the previous one where discouraging from going to the police was emphasized.

Thanks for letting us know that there was a repeat programme on Sky. It really makes me sick to think that these boys and girls put their trust in this 'loving organisation' only to get their lives messed up forever. John Wingate and Bob Souter were both in the Corrimal Cong and then both ended up in Cooma - seems really strange to me!!! Lets hope 'brothers and sisters' in the Queensland Cong were watching to find they had a paediphile in their midst. It just doesn't bear thinking about. I'm just so thankful our kids escaped this trauma - alw
Yep, ((hugs)) to all those affected, especially the beautiful boys in Corrimal & my Camden friend ...
Hey, nice to see so many ausies having a comment. The show was very good. I only hope that channel nine are able to do some more. There must be plenty of others in congregations other than Cooma.
John Wyngate will have a bit of trouble going door to door for a while you would imagine. He is about to become a victim himself...this time of the WTBTS. Will they back him?
What about the courage of those victims?... They are all legends
Neat point, geevee, how'd you like to be in John Wyngate's shoes when he enters the KH?
Or the next CO visit, eh?
Cheers, Ozzie
This is so damned nauseating.
The WTBTS and JWs actually believe that they are above the law of the land and can do as they please using God's name as an excuse to keep silent.
The just ice system, in my opinion in most countries is not severe enough with paedophiles but an effort is made ot punish, enforce and mark as dangerous even if it could do with more stringent actions.
What makes them believe they can just be silent on this? How can anyone have the brass to just NOT go to the authorities?
Who do they think they are?!
Well done to all who appeared in this show! And also to those who chose to make and air the show!
It's not so easy to come up against such a legalistic cult as the JWs
I am sorry I missed the programe but did they make it clear the cover up is still happening today or can they argue we turn them over to the police now like a wittnes said to me the other day?
Yes Miss_MG, that is the thing that makes me sick. The Rank and File believe, thanks to the letter that was read out in 2002 that pedophiles are turned over to the police. I had it said to me then by members of the cong "isn't that good? They will be dealt with properly, by the police". That is the smoke screen that was intended. Yet a simple phone call to the local police tells other wise. The is still "eclesiastical privelege". there is NO mandatory reporting of child abuse for Elders in Australia. I dont think that legal requirement has changed. But all the witnesses believe that the elders will get the police involved.
can they argue we turn them over to the police now like a wittnes said to me the other day?
No, no, no that's not right!!
The point in the program was that these offenders are right now being hidden from view in unsuspecting congregations.
The Nanango-Yarraman congregations in SE Queensland were shown to be the place where an offender named Dennis Evans is - right now!
If (a big "IF") the WTS is "turning them over to the police" why is it that convicted offenders are not identified so that parents have the choice of keeping their children well away from him. If those same parents don't know, imagine the danger! Those parents would be teaching their children that they can trust "the brothers", yet there is the most evil danger in their midst with easy access to their children.
And what about the households that the convicted paedophile visits in his 'field service'?
The whole thing is a time bomb waiting to explode.
So, no, no, no to the witness who says otherwise!
Ozzie
Thanks ozzi I will do just that
