I used to love buying knockoffs in Hong Kong's "Ladies Market" in Kowloon. Got lots of cool stuff. :)

The "wholesale" district in Dallas is big business. They don't pretend that they are "originals". Now, there are some shops that carry originals (generally this would be fragrances). It's the wholesale district. You either have to purchase a minimum order ($20, $30, $50, etc) or pay a 3% increase in the listed price.

C'mon, a leather handbag for $13 when the designer version would cost 5x that amount? oh HELLYEAH!

I LOVE SAM MOON! I've purchased some of the cutest bags and earrings there and nobody knows how cheap it is. I'm glad both the Sam Moon stores are so far away from me. If it were any easier to get to, I'd have a major shopping problem.

How many 'fest have there been where I take people to the wholesale district to go shopping? It's like a tourist attraction. I love it.

How do the local merchants deal with this? They get away without charging taxes.

You're right, Min. I love Chinatown (Manhattan).

I love Manhatten too! The Sudanese have the West Side and the stuff (I think) comes right out of Chinatown.
