    LOL @ Gary!!!

    Emma, CatchThis, and Jeff --

I had heard that Michiganders (and geese) were going to Toledo. Perhaps it depends on the Circuit? Dayton seems far when there are 8 dates at Toledo.

Jeff is right. The Silverdome was used for the DC up until last summer. I have not heard that the 'dome is scheduled for demolition, despite having lost the Lions. It is still being used by the City of Pontiac for other entertainment events.

Catch -- my congregation was assigned to the 300 level. (The price to pay for having the DC in our backyard?) Talk about HOT!!!!!! Many brought those little battery-operated fans that spray water. And many just refused to sit where they were assigned. Like most of the elders and MSs, who either sat in the airconditioned press box if they were on the program, or down on the 100 level where the heat was more bearable. Somehow THEY didn't have to follow theocratic order.... Damn hypocrites!!!!

Brenda, you're right. I got my cities mixed up. MI folks are being sent to Toledo, not Dayton. My goof. But the date is correct....at least for mid-MI. I'm not sure how big the convention site is and if it would hold all of the typical MI crowd.

Michiganders will be going to Toledo, Ohio, just barely across the Michigan border. There are eight conventions scheduled there--one in Spanish. The Silverdome in Pontiac was a miserable place for an assembly as there was no air conditioning. They would exchange the air one time during the day and that was all. I went to that assembly many times when the temperature was in the 90's. A lot of people just stopped going, including me, because it was too damaging to the health.

My guess is that they changed from one assembly in Pontiac to eight in Toledo to encourage more people to attend. No excuses now--I also used the excuse that June was my busiest month at my work.

Hrm...not sure where my old congo is going now. We used to have it pretty easy because it was right in New Haven (a 20 to 25 min ride), but the Colesium there was demolished several years ago. It's looking like Amherst, MA is where they go now. I never bothered to check and nobody ever bothered to let me know.

In IL they use a new facility built next door to the town I used to live in. Brother, that would have been much nicer than schlepping into Cicero and back...especially during rush hour on Thursdays and Fridays. I can remember getting a hotel room once, but because it was 4th of July weekend, we couldn't use the pool (they were having a 4th party) and there was noise in the hallways as well as explosions outside until the early hours of the morning. Didn't they know that some people don't have fun and have to be rested and alert so they can sit at a race track and attempt to listen to long, boring speaches all weekend?

I'm so glad I don't have to worry about this crap any more. Sounds like a lovely weekend of being bludgeoned over the head to obey a bunch of men and not listen to those little, screaming voices in your head telling you that this can't be right.

You're right Catchthis. Only CAs were held at the Janesville, WI assembly hall. The DAs were held in Madison, WI, but for some time they have been in Rockford, IL.

What congregation did you attend while living in WI? I live outside of Madison, WI.

Catch -- my congregation was assigned to the 300 level.

Is the assigning of seats something new? As teenagers ( a couple of years ago) we were always intentionally vague about our seating locations when nosey 'friends' wanted to keep track of us. This allowed us to leave during the sessions to attend to essential tasks such as getting the car washed.

Saturday 4:35 What Does the Bible Really Teach? Sounds like a New Book

Yes, it does, doesn't it? And if I may speculate, aren't we about due for a revamp of the Reasoning book (which was itself a revamp of the second edition of the Make Sure of All Things book)? Especially since Ron Rhodes has co-opted the title for his apologetics series...
