Driving through the Appalachian Mountains in Tennesse listening to Dan Fogleberg's Souvenirs is magic, especially early in the morning when they are misty.

Axis Bold As Love, the entire LP by Jimi Hendrix. Especially Spanish Castle Magic and Wait 'til Tomorrow.

Like "The Dude" in The Big Lebowski, I despise The Eagles, but 'Take it Easy' is a good driving song.

Oooh, here's a good one I haven't listened to in ages- The Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby. I played it so much, the tape finally broke. Whatever happened to Terrence?

hadnt thought of this when i started this thread...but i remember a few years back going to california for the first time on hols...usually went to florida and just got a cheap car cos only used it to go to theme parks..but since we were going to do a lot of driving length and breadth of cali we decided to get a better model...i paid in advance and specified that it must have cruise control and a cassette player...when we arrived we were told they had upgraded our car and gave us the keys to some giant saloon..which was fine until once we had packed everything in we noticed it didnt have a cassette player it had a cd player (new at the time...few years ago now)...well i hadnt brought any cds with me..i had specifically chosen the sort of music you associate with california for listening to while we were there...beach boys...eagles..bob segar ..sheryl crow..etc etc.....so i went back and told them this and they said they only had one kinda car that had a cassette player and it was their top car but since i had specified they would give me one..so i spent the next 2 weeks driving around in the only just on the road (then) chrysler cruiser..black...everywhere we went people would give us the thumbs up or let us out at junctions and at any landmarks we would see people moving around to get the car in the photo aswell..twas great fun and got to listen to all the music i had taken and as it had a cd player aswell..bought some cds en route..i can still see us driving along the cliff tops on route 1 from san fran to l.a. with bob segar blasting out..hollywood nights..halcyon days

The PT Cruiser was all the rage when it first came out. Everyone wanting to return to the the days gone by. That retro look really got the ball rolling on a lot of cars attempt a walk back to the future. My wife was ecstatic about the car when I pointed out to her how it was a returning to the past. We and a lot of America have been fans ever since.

Glad you could share some really quality time with your family. It must have been a blast!!!

Anything by America. I remember driving in Los Angeles a few years ago when I heard one of their songs - what a great car moment!

Chewing on a piece of grass
    Walking down the road
Tell me, how long you gonna stay here, Joe?
Some people say this town don't look good in snow
    You don't care, I know

    Ventura Highway in the sunshine
    Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger than moonshine
    You're gonna go I know

'Cause the free wind is blowin' through your hair
And the days surround your daylight there
    Seasons crying no despair
Alligator lizards in the air, in the air

Did di di di dit ...

    Wishin' on a falling star
    Waitin' for the early train
Sorry boy, but I've been hit by purple rain
Aw, come on, Joe, you can always
    Change your name
Thanks a lot, son, just the same

    Ventura Highway in the sunshine
    Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger than moonshine
    You're gonna go I know

'Cause the free wind is blowin' through your hair
And the days surround your daylight there
    Seasons crying no despair
Alligator lizards in the air, in the air

Did di di di dit ...
