Why do the English make fun of 'gingers'??

  In a world where that which sticks out draws attention, mtbatoon would be correct, methinks.

  The English and Irish, and English and Scots have a love-hate relationship, borne of centuries of warfare and bullying:
  They hate to love us, but often can't help themselves, and we love to hate them, but sometimes can't help ourselves, either.

  Anyway, by comparison we don't mind the names they call us (and as an aside, we have plenty of our own for them) because you should hear what they say about the Americans and French!!!

  Bearing in mind the forementioned, is it any wonder the Scots and Irish take umbrage when they are accused of being English?
  Being called British, we can about tolerate, but English???

  A word to the wise, for our American buddies.

  Ah - but WE are still permitted by (Old English) Law to shoot the Welsh and Scottish (with a longbow) if the fancy takes us!!!

  The city laws regarding the shooting of the Welsh and Scotts have fallen into misuse due to them being superseded by national laws but should you wish to use them as a defence they are:

  Chester Laws

  You can only shoot a Welsh person with a bow and arrow inside the city walls and after midnight.

  Hereford Laws

  You may not shoot a Welsh person on Sunday with a longbow in the Cathedral Close.

  York Laws

  Excluding Sundays, it is perfectly legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow.

  I' ve never heard anyone make fun of/despise red heads any more than blonds, to the contrary being far more rare women with fiery red hair could have an advantage especially if they have these in certain private regions.
