10 min: Local announcements. Remind publishers to turn in field service reports for May. Mention literature offer for June. Demonstrate how to present the offer, using one or two of the suggested presentations in the January 2005 Our Kingdom Ministry insert (if appropriate for your territory). Other practical presentations can be used.

20 min: "Family Schedule - The Daily Text." * Invite audience to comment on how their family benefits from considering the daily text together and what schedule they have found practical for doing so.

15 min: Relate or reenact field service experiences that were enjoyed during March, April, and May. Arrange in advance for one or two to comment on the effort they put forth to increase their share in the ministry during the Memorial season and the blessings they enjoyed as a result.

    Song 115 and concluding prayer.

    * Limit introductory comments to less than a minute, and follow with a question-and-answer discussion.

--------The daily text article is the last in a series of articles in May's KM for the family.

COMMENTS: First, why do grown adults need to be reminded to turn in their report? Do people need to be reminded to turn in their timesheet at work; no timesheet, no money is a great motivator.

Are JWs preachers or publishers? Where is the Bible are Christians told to publish anything?

Suggested presentations: Except for a goody-two shoes regular pioneer, whoever uses these except on the platform?

Practical presentations: What would be an impractical presentation?

20 min: "Family Schedule - The Daily Text." * Invite audience to comment on how their family benefits from considering the daily text together and what schedule they have found practical for doing so.

COMMENTS: Unless the brother with this part prepares people from his book study group to answer, only 1 or 2 people ever raise their hands. I know one brother who told how he discussed the text at home, only to have his 15 year old son tell me that they had never discussed the day’s text at home, never.

COMMENTS: What is this new terminology REENACT field service experiences? What it means is that experience probably never happened in your congregation or your circuit. Or they could be experiences from 20, 15, 10 years ago.

Arrange in advance; no one would comment and it would be still silence if they didn’t do this.

Their share: an ambiguous term meaning that whatever you have done, you should be doing more.

Thanks for making me laugh. Guess nothing has changed on Thursday nights since the last time I was there three years ago.

I got a kick out of this one.............

Relate or reenact field service experiences that were enjoyed during March, April, and May.

When I was there way back when and the audience was asked to relate an enjoyable fs experience, it was like pulling teeth to get an answer. That just goes to show that the majority never enjoyed anything about fs.

Thanks for rundown. That was easy. With comments in the thread I can keep the Service Meeting to a minute. Look how much more time for preaching - Yippee!

    Blonde,

You are right on giving experiences from 20 or more years (as if it was just happening now!) had a pioneer sister comment about a family who has their two kids listen each night to Bible Story tapes and the kids just love to do this each night at bedtime, as they fall asleep.

Real Story:This was about 15 years ago, family split up a year later, Mother goes to another "Wordly Church", Df'd, father has drinking problem, trouble with other JW's he rented from, was Df'd. Mother moves away to get away from him. Perhaps today their are happy Christians.

So much for relating family experiences. I wanted to ask her how recent was her experience as it sounded old but familar, but instead I bolted from the meeting, resolved not to return.

    Peace, Sheri

    TheListener-

I want to turn in my field service time for May. Who on this board should I send it to? All hours must be reported so that the Cosmos is at peace.
