    • love or confusion (3:15)

i think this one of the reasons why i didn't join this cult...you end up giving up too much of your personal freedom and thoughts.

I never had to give up any music; as I lived at home, my stepfather simply forbade me from owning any (although his collection of Hustler and Swank magazines hidden undewr the bed were apparently ok.) Whenever I visited my big brother, I used to listen to his stuff- Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, Cat Stevens, Queen, over and over, trying to memorize it. And when I moved out on my own, I amassed quite a collection of worldly music- Prince, Corey Hart, Cindy Lauper, Ike and Tina Turner Review- to make up for all those years of listening to the damned Kingdom Melodies.

Ahhhh now Kingdom Melodies... I bl00dy well hated that Lazarus song, but I used to love the songs that couldnt rhyme properly so resorted to a half rhyme, like Move and Love.

Half the cong would sing Moove and Loove, while the other half bravely tried to sing Luv. But then really, Moove came first, so you got caught out and by the time you came to Love (you could see it coming at the end of the line) you were in a sweat thinking do I force it to rhyme or will I be true to myelf and spoil this wonderful melody to God by singing the word as it sounds. That decisive line used to last a lifetime.

Guys I was always true to myself and sang LUV real loud.

    Guess thats why I left.

My mother did a dawn raid on her collection which included Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles which was most of the music I was brought up on; she did keep a close eye on what music I was later to bring into the house in my teenage years.

However she never did find my Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden Albums.

The irony about this though is that she didnt mind Metallica...!!!! WTF!?

I tried to argue that the Sound of Music Soundtrack had sexual overtones and demonic backtracked lyrics but she wouldnt believe me...you can but try!!

My father never made any sense. I bought an En Vogue CD, and he told me I had to get rid of it because they looked like "prostitutes from the 20s", but he himself bought me a Mariah Carey tape where she was wearing a low-cut micro-mini. *shrugs* Oh, and my mother made me get rid of Enya stuff coz she said she was a witch. Our music was tightly monitored, so I only had tame stuff.

    Hey Desbah

A friend of my older bro saw him in California in the 60's. You guessed it, too stoned to remember much. He also saw the Doors, Jefferson Airplane. Amazing times.....Actually my brother came back to Oz with JH Experience when I was about 11. That was the end of the Monkees for me!!!

All my Grateful Dead, Madonna, The Doors....others...the sad, stupid thing of it all is that I had gathered all these tapes during my 2.5 years of teenage rebellion...and when I came back (had a baby so had to set a good example for him, hahaha) I went and destroyed them myself. I was under the impression that I had to do so, that was why I wasn't "progressing" in my studies. My bible study conductor didn't tell me to do it, but she kind of point the path out so to speak.

I have been trying to get back all the music that I lost over the years, and now share that music with my teenage son, that little baby I thought I needed to protect from the music haha.

Oh well...the things you do when you are being "sincere"
