Turkey is pretty safe as long as you don't get on a bus driven by a Turk.
But seriously if you're worried you can always check out what the foreign and commonwealth office are advising and get a last minute deal.

Hi Englishman,
I can understand way you would have such concerns. However, although I believe that BBC may be less sweked than the states' media, I still feel muslims are getting a tragically unfair portrait painted for the lot of them. Which is why for global news, I rely on http://english.aljazeera.net/HomePage ... but that is another story. As not all Muslims are extremists or terrorists, there are plenty of media reports to make one think that an English Christian whitie will surely fall vivtim to today's car bombing. But consider that most Islamic devotees are not fundamentalists and by large, are taught to love and respect Christians and Jews. Not that I am promoting Islam, bit it is the world's most prominent religion, that I too have linked with terror.
With all of the violence in the states; 9/11, Green River killer, BTK serial killer, the Beltway boys, and countless other crazies, in conclusion I would say if you would still come to the states for holiday...do consider Turkey!! Here is a site I have bookmarked that may help you a bit...

If you go, I'd love to hear about your travels, upon return!!

Not completely but I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to go depending on which one it is that is.
No, and this includes any other authoritarian state.
I will never set foot in such a country.
My Boy friend went to Egypt on 911. He was on one of the last planes out of London.
I went to Dubai summer of 2003 and loved it. We are thinking about Egypt or Turkey for one of our next holidays
Been to Turkey e-man it is great and reasonably low cost - I felt safe. Also been to Morroco and was also good - but there are not mnay other Muslim countries I would visit right now
I don't know...it depends on the country, I guess. My friend recently went to Morocco and said it was fine.
It depends ... I wouldn't feel safe visiting a muslim country where the west propped up oppressive rulers so that people resented westerners (eg. Egypt, Saudi)
But my experience with Irianians is that they are incredibly friendly and socially generous so I would happy to visit a free muslim state.
One of the 'brothers' in our KH was in the Iranian Embassy hostage seige in London, famously stormed by the SAS. They were a lovely family.
I had the chance to go to Saudi Arabia 3 years ago, all expenses paid. After I declined to go my boss turned down the job offer. He did not want to go by himself and had a bad feelings about it. The client ended up flying to the states to meet with him because he wanted my boss to represent him. If I got the same offer right now I would turn it down again.
I did some work in Tehran (capital of Iran) just a few years back. I had a great time there and never felt threatened or afraid. I found the people in general to be extremely friendly and helpful. I went for a walk one day and got talking to one man who insisted that I went back to his house for dinner.
It made me think, when was the last time I met a Muslim (or any other foreign visitor for that matter) and invited them back to my place.
I have also lived in a country with a large Muslim population for a while when I was a JW and met many Muslims in the filed ministry. They were aways very courtious and was always asked in and extended typical eastern hospitality.
I think it just goes to show that 99.99 percent of people anywhere in the world are honest decent folk. It is the 1 percent of lunatics that make difficult for the majority.
