Last night, I told my brother how I'm studying for my yellowbelt test for Tae Kwon Do. He then started breaking down in a rant saying how I'm not concentrating on other things and I'm just looking out for leisurely stuff.

He then went on to say "Well, can't you see, the world is going to end and you're doing this useless pursuit in life?"

I then said "Why is it going to end? Is it because some false prophet organization that quotes a book that claims that snakes talk and men walking on water is true"?

That's when he got violent. It got to the point where he was about to swing my bass at my head. That's when I grabbed my katana. He then went away.

This is my 3rd violent encounter with a JW that involved critical questioning of their religion.

I've seen them get the most 'satanic' (for lack of better word) look on their face, and get really pissed. sad huh?

wow! that's wild. i've never had a violent run-in with a cult member. like IP says, i've seen them get emotionally violent.

It's sad that JW's are nice to you as long as you agree, but then get bent out of shape if you don't accept their truth as yours.

If they really had the truth, they wouldn't be so insecure about the fact that reasonable people can have differing views from their own. Many times when you ask a JW a reasonable question, they view you as an opposer of truth.

Doesn't their Bible say that they should always be ready with an answer for those who DEMAND the reason for the hope in them?

It doesn't sound like they're ready with an answer (other than we're right and you're wrong, nyah nyah nyah).

Good thing your learning Tae Kwon do then! Although I realise it's more about self-discipline, but when you've got objects flying at your head perhaps it doesn't hurt to pull out a few moves in self-defence.

I spose you probably did attack him, but clearly this was just retalatory to the insinuations that you lead a lifestyle that will lead you to imminent death, which more than justifes your response:) frog
